Gianluca Di Marzio has said that Tanguy Ndombele is not convinced about joining Genoa before Friday evening’s transfer deadline because he wants Champions League football.
Ndombele is one of a whole host of first-team stars that Tottenham are trying to offload before the transfer window slams shut.
Ange Postecoglou himself hinted a couple of days ago that the 26-year-old is one of five or six extra players who will not find a place in the club’s Premier League squad (Football. London).
On Wednesday morning, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Genoa had struck an agreement with Spurs to sign Ndombele on loan, with the journalist adding that the Serie A club were working on convincing the player to make the move.
Ndombele wants Champions League to leave Spurs
If Di Marzio’s latest update is to be believed, Genoa have failed to convince the Tottenham man about the project at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.
The reporter has revealed that the former Lyon man prefers to join a club who are in the Champions League, which is why the Italian side is now turning their attention to other midfield options.

It remains to be seen if any Champions League club would come in for Ndombele this late in the window. Perhaps, the Frenchman’s agent has been contacted by a couple of other sides, which could be why he is stalling on a move to Genoa.
