InterLive claim that several big European clubs are now keeping a close eye on the striker’s situation and are ‘ready to try’ for him sooner rather than later.

It is alleged that Simone Inzaghi’s side are preparing for an assault on the Thuram during next summer’s transfer window, with the player on the radars of Spurs, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

The report adds that as things stand, Inter value the former Gladbach star at €40m (£34.8m) but that could increase considerably if he maintains his current standard of performances.

Inter have shown that they are certainly not opposed to selling players for a profit soon after buying them as they did with Andre Onana this summer. 

Given that they signed Thuram on a free, they would certainly be tempted if they receive a sizable offer for the player next summer.

However, I suspect that the 26-year-old will likely be valued in the £60m-£70m range if he manages to get 20 goal contributions or more this season.

Signing a player of Thuram’s quality on a free transfer would be an extremely lucrative option for plenty of top clubs around Europe. 

However, Tottenham have quite a few similar attacking options to the Frenchman, which is why I am surprised that we are being mentioned as being among the top contenders for the 25-year-old’s signature.

The likes of Manchester United and Inter Milan arguably need a forward of Thuram’s profile much more urgently than we do.

Thuram has 41 goals in 119 appearances for the German club (Transfermarkt), with 13 of those coming in his 17 appearances this season (Transfermarkt).

His current form and contract situation has alerted clubs all across Europe, with Inter Milan (CalcioMercato), Newcastle United (The Sun), and London rivals Arsenal and Spurs (17/11/22 Gazzetta via Sport Witness) all tracking the marksman.

According to Nicolo Schira, Monchengladbach could be willing to offload Thuram in January for as little as €10 million (£8.6 million), in order to avoid losing him for nothing in the summer.

This notion has been reinforced by German outlet Bild, who claim the club are already planning for the departure of Thuram in January.

The long list of admirers for Thuram just got a little bigger, though. L’Equipe suggest the new Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has been a fan of the player for some time, and may look to bring him to Villa Park in the upcoming transfer window.

The attacker is currently on international duty with the France squad for the 2022 World Cup, looking to add to his six international caps and score his first goal for Les Bleus (Transfermarkt). Once the tournament is over, it seems Thuram and his club may have some decisions to make about his future.

It’s no surprise that multiple clubs are looking at Marcus Thuram, considering the price tag and his situation in Germany. While I would like to see him at Spurs, I imagine the offer of regular first-team football at a club like Aston Villa would be very attractive for him.

Spurs are alleged to be ‘working on the operation’ to sign the 25-year-old but the North London club reportedly face competition from a whole host of clubs across the contention for the winger’s signature (17/11/22 Gazzetta via Sport Witness).

It remains to be seen where Thuram will end up but if Bild’s latest update is to be believed, Gladbach do not expect the player to remain at Borussia Park beyond January.

The report states that Daniel Farke’s men have already identified potential replacements for the former Guingamp man if he does depart the club.

It is asserted that the German club could make a move for one of either NK Osijek youngster Dion Drena Beljo or AZ Alkmaar star Vangelis Pavlidis to replace Thuram.

It looks fairly certain that Thuram will leave Gladbach and Tottenham would likely have already reached out to the Bundesliga club as well as the winger’s representatives, as an opportunity to sign a player of the 25-year-old’s quality for such a low price is too tempting to pass up on.

However, the Frenchman has a lot of power in deciding his next decision, given his contract situation. He will likely have a whole host of destinations to choose from and I doubt he would want to come to Spurs, given the kind of attacking talent Conte already has at his disposal.

Galetti has now suggested that the Nerazzurri have an ‘advantage’ over other suitors as their talks with Thuram’s entourage are already ‘well underway’.

The journalist states that Simone Inzaghi’s men are ready to offer €5m (£4.3m) to Borussia Monchengladbach and a salary of €4.5m (£3.8m) to the attacker.

However, Galetti adds that Inter would need to raise funds through player sales before pushing ahead with a move for Thuram.

Inter’s reported offer seems to fall short of Gladbach’s asking price while their salary proposal to Thuram is not too high either. So, one would expect Premier League clubs to be able to blow the Nerazzurri out of the water in terms of the salary and transfer fee they can offer for the 25-year-old.
