Tottenham Hotspur could be set to reignite their interest in Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez this summer, but his current club aren’t keen to sell.
Martinez has been with Inter Milan since 2018 and has racked up 228 appearances for the Serie A giants, scoring 95 goals and contributing 32 assists in that time (Transfermarkt).
The Argentina striker has been linked with a move to Tottenham in the past on several occasions, and as recently as October 2022 (CalcioMercato). Interest cooled at the time, but has resurfaced of late.
A report last week indicated that Spurs were considering moving for Martinez once more, as a possible replacement for Harry Kane if he ends up leaving the club this summer (InterLive).
It is thought Inter would ask for around €80 million (£70.8 million) for their frontman.
The 25-year-old has had a prolific season this year, scoring 21 goals in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Inter have made their way to the Champions League semi-final but may miss out on the tournament next year given they are currently fifth in Serie A.
The latest from Gazzetta dello Sport claims Inter Milan representatives have been made aware that both Tottenham and Manchester United are keen on Martinez.
However, the problem is, Inter Milan have no interest in negotiations at this time. The Italian giants see Martinez as a key figure in their project and have no intentions of letting him leave.
Spurs previously arranged a £60 million fee for Martinez back in 2021 but that move never came to fruition (The Times).
Spurs Web Opinion
Lautaro Martinez is a fantastic goalscorer and someone I would be keen to see in the Premier League. If we do end up losing Harry Kane, Martinez could be a great option.
He would be expensive, but when you’re replacing someone like Kane you have to be prepared to spend big.
