The Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur will ‘definitely’ consider making a move for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma this summer.

Bissouma was reportedly on Tottenham’s radar in January, with Spurs alleged to be battling the likes of Man Utd and Aston Villa for the midfielder’s signature during the final few days of the window (The Daily Mail).

The midfielder ended up staying put at the Amex Stadium but his future is still up in the air, with his current contract only having 12 months left to run (Transfermarkt).

The Times reported last month that Spurs and Aston Villa could battle it out for Bissouma’s signature this summer.

London World subsequently suggested that the North London club could turn their attention to the Mail international if they are unsuccessful in their attempts to bring Christian Eriksen back to the club.

Bissouma seemed to drop a ‘come and get me’ plea to Arsenal this week, reposting an Instagram clip from a Gunners fan, who had called for Mikel Arteta to make the Brighton man and Youri Tielemans his priority signings this summer (via Football.London).

Taylor has now insisted that although Spurs have not registered ‘concrete’ interest in the 25-year-old, the midfielder could be a relatively cheap option for Antonio Conte’s men.

The journalist told GiveMeSport about Bissouma: “If he’s a player that Conte likes, he certainly will help save some of the finances for some other signings given that he’s probably not going to cost any more than £30m to £35m.

“Definitely one Spurs will look at, and given he wants to play in the Champions League, it’s probably a realistic avenue. But at the moment, nothing concrete to suggest that will happen.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While Bissouma could well be one of the names on Tottenham’s wishlist, he certainly does not appear to be near the top of the list. It seems like a central midfielder is not as much of a priority for Conte this summer as a left centre-back or a right wing-back.
