According to The Times, Tottenham Hotspur have now agreed on a fee of around £25m with Brighton & Hove Albion for the transfer of midfielder Yves Bissouma.
The report reveals that Spurs tried in vain to sign Bissouma in January before reviving their interest in the player, who only has 12 months left on his contract at the Amex Stadium.
The North London club are said to be confident that they can agree on personal terms with the Mali international, who is expected to complete his medical at Hotspur Way this week.
Bissouma is thought to have suffered an ankle problem last week but the injury is not expected to derail his medical at Tottenham.
The Times also explain the Brighton star is awaiting the outcome of the police investigation into an allegation of sexual assault against him.
If Spurs do snap up Bissouma, he will become the club’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster on respective free transfers.
Spurs Web Opinion
A player of Bissouma’s quality for £25m represents fantastic value for money, particularly considering that the likes of Ruben Neves, James Ward-Prowse and Kalvin Phillips are seemingly valued at more than twice that amount. Hopefully, Spurs manage to get the deal for the Brighton star over the line.
