Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to meet with Yves Bissouma’s representatives over the coming hours to complete the ‘final details’ ahead of the midfielder’s transfer.
While Spurs fans are used to seeing the club’s pursuit of their transfer targets played out over an extended period, the pace at which the Bissouma story progressed caught everyone by surprise.
There had not been an extensive amount of speculation linking the North Londoners with a move for the midfielder over recent weeks but on Tuesday, multiple publications (The Times and The Telegraph) reported that the Lilywhites had agreed on a fee of around £25m with the Seagulls for the Mali international.
It was revealed that Spurs do not expect any problems when it comes to agreeing on personal terms with Bissouma and the player is expected to have his medical at Hotspur Way later this week.
Romano has now taken to social media to state that Tottenham only have to complete the ‘final steps’ to officially seal the transfer, and are expected to do that over the coming hours.

I do wonder if Spurs were cautious about their interest in Bissouma not leaking to ensure that other clubs do not enter the frame. They might have wanted to avoid a repeat of the Lius Diaz situation in January.
Perhaps, the North London club had been working behind the scenes over recent weeks to find the specifics of Bissouma’s reported investigation and wanted to quickly complete a deal once they were confident the midfielder will not be charged.
