Tottenham Hotspur have revealed that Rodrigo Bentancur is ‘making progress’ in his rehabilitation at Hotspur Way.
Bentancur, who has been one of Spurs’ most important players since arriving from Juventus in January of last year, saw his season cut short when he picked up an injury in the second half of the 4-1 defeat against Leicester City in early February.
It was immediately apparent that the situation was serious as the midfielder was seemingly in a lot of pain, and it emerged soon after that he had ruptured a cruciate ligament and thus underwent surgery (Evening Standard).
The Uruguayan has been a massive miss for the Lilywhites, who have not been helped by the fact that Yves Bissouma is also sidelined, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp having started nearly every game over the last two months.
It was reported by Sky Sports back in February that Bentancur might not return to action until November.
However, Spurs fans can take some optimism from the fact that the midfielder is now back doing gym work at Hotspur Way.

Bentancur’s absence is arguably quite a big reason why things went downhill quickly for Conte over the last two months.
The Uruguayan, in many ways, made the Italian’s system tick owing to his ability to handle possession in tight areas and progress the ball up the pitch.
In the 25-year-old’s absence, Conte’s system looked extremely agricultural as we simply were not able to get any sort of control.
