Tottenham Hotspur have announced that 24 year old South Korean forward Heung-Min Son will indeed require surgery and is expected to go under the knife tomorrow.
Son was substituted after just 34 minutes of playing during South Korea’s 3-2 defeat to Qatar on Tuesday, after having picked up an injury to right forearm.
Initial fears were that Son had broken his arm when landing awkwardly form an aerial challenge, but later scans had revealed the injury to be a fracture.
Spurs announced on the official club website:
“Heung-Min Son is to undergo surgery on his right forearm tomorrow (Friday).”
“The South Korea international sustained the injury after landing on his arm during his national team’s World Cup qualifying match against Qatar in Doha on Tuesday, with further assessment and scans confirming that he has sustained a fracture.”
“Son will continue to be monitored by our medical staff ahead of a return to action next season.”
There is still no time-frame set on Son’s return, though reports from The Korea Herald suggest that he is likely to be missing for up to a month.
