Sky Sports Germany have claimed that Wolfsburg are hoping for a fee of more than €30m (£25.6) for Micky van de Ven amidst Tottenham’s interest in the centre-back.
Despite some outlets suggesting a few days ago that Van de Ven was edging closer to a move to Tottenham (The Athletic), it was declared by Fabrizio Romano on Friday that Spurs had not yet made a decision on who to sign between the Dutchman and Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba.
Micky Van de Ven should fetch more than £26m
Sky Germany have now offered an update on the Wolfsburg star’s situation, stating that the 22-year-old is now ‘flirting with an exit’.
The report states that a departure ‘does not seem far-fetched’ amidst Tottenham’s interest but it is asserted that the Lilywhites are yet to make a formal offer for the player.
The publication adds that Wolfsburg are well covered at centre-back should Van de Ven depart, with the likes of Sebastiaan Bornauw, Maxence Lacroix, Moritz Jenz and Cedric Zesiger in their ranks.
Sky Germany add that Nico Kovac’s men are hoping to get a higher transfer fee for the Dutchman than the €30m (£25.6m) they made from Felix Nmecha’s sale to Borussia Dortmund last week.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham should not have any issue paying the £25m-£30m it would take to snap up Van de Ven.
All indications are that the Lilywhites are waiting to see if there is any progress in the Tapsoba negotiations before deciding to push ahead with a move for the Dutchman.
