Contrary to all the speculation doing the rounds over the last week, Wolfsburg managing director Marcel Schafer has insisted that the Bundesliga club are yet to receive any offers for rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Micky van de Ven.
Multiple sources, including Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, have talked up the chances of van de Ven moving to Spurs recently.
Romano took to Twitter on Monday to report that Spurs were ‘advancing in talks’ with Wolfsburg over a deal for the centre-back and added that an agreement between the two clubs is now ‘close’.
Meanwhile, The Athletic had previously claimed that Tottenham were on the verge of reaching an agreement worth £30m with the German outfit for the Dutch Under-21 international.
No Spurs approach for van de Ven
The publication added that agreeing personal terms with the 22-year-old is not expected to be an issue for Tottenham, who are continuing to revamp their squad under new head coach Ange Postecoglou.
However, Schafer has now insisted that not only have Spurs not bid for van de Ven but the player’s camp have also not communicated any desire to leave his current employer.
The Wolfsburg director told WAZ: “I follow the speculation. But not a single offer has landed on our desk. I have not spoken to him either. There is no reason to do so. I expect him back in Wolfsburg next week.”
Spurs Web Opinion
There have been many contradictory updates on Tottenham’s pursuit of van de Ven over the last week. I suspect that is due to the fact that Spurs have laid all the groundwork for a deal but have not made the final move just yet.
That could be because they are waiting to see if there would be any progress on their pursuit of Edmond Tapsoba.
