Fabrizio Romano has ruled out the possibility of Arsenal entering the race for Tottenham target Micky Van de Ven.
After strengthening two priority areas with the signings of James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario, Tottenham have now seemingly turned their attention to a pursuit of a left-sided centre-back.
It was Romano who reported on Wednesday that Ange Postecoglou’s men had begun talks over a deal for Van de Ven, who is alleged to be keen on a switch to N17.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has confirmed Tottenham’s interest in the Dutchman, stating on Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel this week that the Lilywhites are expected to prioritise a move for the Wolfsburg star over Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba.
Romano rules out Arsenal move for Micky Van de Ven
Football Transfers claimed a couple of days ago that Spurs could face competition from their North London rivals Arsenal for Van de Ven, claiming that the Gunners were also monitoring the 22-year-old’s situation.
However, Romano has now eased the fears of Tottenham fans by asserting that the Wolfsburg star is not on Arsenal’s wishlist.
The journalist made it clear that Jurrien Timber is the only centre-back target that Mikel Arteta’s men are pursuing and there is confidence at the Emirates that they can snap up the Ajax star.

Based on the recent updates, it sounds like Spurs are likely to be unopposed in their pursuit of Van de Ven, which should hopefully mean that the negotiations progress quite quickly over the coming days just as the Maddison and Vicario deals did.
