The Athletic have now revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are now increasingly confident of getting a deal for Micky van de Ven over the line.
There were seemingly some significant developments in Tottenham’s pursuit of van de Ven on Monday, with journalist Mike Verweij claiming that the Lilywhites had agreed on personal terms with the centre-back on a five-year deal.
The Mirror (17:55 in blog) then claimed yesterday Wolfsburg star had agreed to join the Lilywhites, who are now looking to complete the ‘final details’ to seal a £30m transfer.
Growing confidence of van de Ven deal for Spurs
The Athletic have now bow backed up The Mirror’s claim, stating that Spurs are now inching closer to reaching a full agreement with the Bundesliga club over van de Ven’s transfer.
The outlet suggests that personal terms are not expected to be a problem and there is now growing confidence that the centre-back would be the third new signing to arrive through the door at Hotspur Way this summer.
Spurs are also said to be closing in on a deal for Manor Solomon who is available as a free agent.
Liverpool were also said to be keen on signing the defender during the current transfer window, however, it appears that Spurs have won the race (Daily Mail).
Spurs Web Opinion
Based on the various reports over the last 24 hours, all indications are that van de Ven will be officially announced as a Tottenham player by the end of the week.
That would mean that the club would have addressed three priority positions (goalkeeper, attacking midfielder and left centre-back) early in the window, leaving us with ample time to strengthen out wide and potentially in central midfield.
