Micky van de Ven is expected to travel to London in the next 24 hours for his medical with Tottenham Hotspur, as Fabrizio Romano has finally declared we have a ‘Here we go’ on the defender’s move to Spurs.
Tottenham’s defensive struggles have been highlighted once again during pre-season, and the club has been crying out for reinforcements at the back for a long time now.
For the entirety of the summer, Wolfsburg centre-half Micky van de Ven has been touted as one of the top targets for the North London club.
The 22-year-old, and fellow Bundesliga defender Edmond Tapsoba, have both been identified by Spurs as a perfect fit for their system, thanks to data analysis (Football.London).
Despite ongoing negotiations that have dragged on for weeks, there have been positive developments over the last 24 hours or so.
David Ornstein wrote for The Athletic that a deal worth €50m (£43.1m) inc add-ons for van de Ven was ‘on the verge’ of being completed.
Van de Ven could become Tottenham’s sixth signing of the summer after Dejan Kulusevsi and Pedro Porro’s loans both became permanent, alongside deals for James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, and Manor Solomon.
Here we go announced for Van de Ven deal
Now, Fabrizio Romano has given the move his iconic ‘Here we go’ declaration, with the transfer expert revealing the young Dutch defender will travel for his medical ‘in the next 24 hours.’
Romano said: “Micky van de Ven to Tottenham, here we go! Verbal agreement in place for €50m package add-ons included, Dutch CB to travel in the next 24h for medical. Contract agreed until 2028, deal done with José Fortes Rodriguez from Raiola. Wolfsburg set to prepare documents soon.”

Spurs Web Opinion
We will wait until we see Micky van de Ven in a Spurs shirt before we get too excited, but this is amazing news and once he is through the door, we can really focus on adding further depth to the defence or other areas of the pitch.
Adding a player of this quality to our squad is huge, and is one of the most promising signings we have made in quite some time.
