De Telegraaf have reported that Micky Van de Ven is set to fly to London on Sunday for his medical, before being announced on Monday.
The Dutch centre-back will travel with his agent José Fortes Rodriguez and father Marcel before being unveiled as the latest Spurs signing – so long as he passes his medical.
The report claims that Tottenham and Van de Ven came to an agreement on a five-year contract more than a month ago, but it took until now for the Lilywhites and Wolfsburg to shake hands on a fee.
Micky Van de Ven is almost a Tottenham player
David Ornstein took to Twitter yesterday to report that Spurs were ‘on the verge’ of agreeing a £43m deal, including add-ons, for the Wolfsburg star.
Fabrizio Romano added that a deal to bring the Netherlands U21 international to North London was ‘almost there’.
Van de Ven would become Tottenham’s seventh signing of the summer, after James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, Manor Solomon, Ashley Phillips, and permanent deals for Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski.
Spurs Web Opinion:
Micky Van de Ven may now have a slim chance of starting the match against Brentford in a week or so. There is also the possibility that Ange Postecoglou may stick with someone like Ben Davies alongside Cristian Romero for the first game, if the Dutchman is not yet up to speed.
