Jude Bellingham has compared himself and Real Madrid striker Joselu to former Tottenham pair, Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe
Bellingham has hit the ground running since his move to the Spanish capital in the summer, with the midfielder thriving in a more advanced role at the Santiago Bernabeu, having found the back of the net five times in four league matches so far (Transfermarkt).
His latest goal came against Getafe as the 20-year-old and Joselu helped the Los Blancos turn around a 1-0 deficit to a 2-1 win.
Jude Bellingham clearly a fan of Crouch and Defoe
When Joselu posted an image of himself and Bellingham on Instagram, the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder responded with a comment that read: “Crouchy x Defoe“.
The Real Madrid star seems to be a fan of the former Spurs duo, who were quite an iconic pairing, with Defoe often getting on the end of Crouch’s knockdowns to find the back of the net.
The pair first formed their partnership at Portsmouth before following Harry Redknapp to White Hart Lane, with both strikers playing a crucial role in helping the Lilywhites qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history back in 2010.
Spurs Web Opinion
The Crouch-Defoe link-up is usually the first one that football fans who got into the game in the 2000s would think of when asked to name a typical big man-little man strike partnership. However, one can argue that the Crouch-Van der Vaart partnership was actually a lot more effective for Spurs.
