Multiple Italian publications are now reporting that Salernitana have stepped up their efforts to sign Pape Matar Sarr on loan.
Sarr has come off the bench in Tottenham’s last two Premier League games against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, with the 20-year-old particularly impressive in the 4-0 win over the Eagles.
Antonio Conte said in his post-match press conference that he does not want to loan out the young players at his disposal as they could have a role to play over the coming months, with his side being involved in three competitions (Football.London).
CalcioMercato were the first to report last week that Salernitana had reached out to Spurs regarding a loan deal for the Senegal international in January.
Il Mattino have now also reported on the Serie A club’s interest in the Spurs man, stating that the club’s manager Davide Nicola is keen on bolstering his options in the midfield and views the former Metz man as a ‘luxury dream’.
The report adds that Salernitana’s sporting director Morgan De Sanctis is now pushing to get a deal for the player over the line.
Tutto Salernitana have also provided an update on the Italian club’s interest in Sarr, stating that they are now making a ‘new attempt’ to sign the Tottenham starlet and have ‘restarted contacts’ with Conte’s men.
The report adds that the youngster is fascinated by the idea of playing in Serie A but Salernitana face plenty of competition for his services.
Spurs Web Opinion
I was quite sure until a few days ago that Spurs would loan out Sarr but Conte’s statement yesterday suggests that the Italian might have changed his mind. Perhaps, the Tottenham head coach wants to keep the youngster around just in case he faces another injury crisis over the coming months.
