The centre-forward has had an exceptional first season in the Serie A, having found the back of the net 16 times and provided six assists so far (Transfermarkt).

Gazzetta say that Salernitana have already made the decision to activate the option to sign Dia but it remains to be seen whether he will be at the Arechi Stadium at the start of next season.

This is because the 26-year-old’s displays this season have allegedly caught the attention of several heavy hitters across Europe, including Tottenham.

The report states that the Lilywhites might face competition from the likes of Sevilla, Fiorentina, AS Roma and a few other clubs for Dia but the North Londoners might have an advantage as the Senegal international dreams of playing in the Premier League.

There is no doubt that we need a wide-forward or even two this summer, now that Moura and Danjuma have left.

There was talk of Pape Matar Sarr going out on loan again last summer and in the January transfer window, with multiple clubs thought to be keen on the young Senegalese star.

Salernitana were among those interested in acquiring Sarr earlier this year (CalcioMercato).

However, Antonio Conte reportedly blocked the move as he wanted to keep Sarr in his squad (Sky Sport Italia – as relayed by TEAMtalk).

Despite this, Sarr has found opportunities in North London limited this year. He has made only 13 first team appearances this term, totaling just 443 minutes on the pitch (Transfermarkt).

It is unclear what the future holds for Sarr, and a lot is likely to depend on how the new manager at Tottenham feels about the young midfielder.

However, it seems Sarr will have no trouble finding a new club if necessary.

The latest report from Tutto Salernitana claims the Italian side are still very much interested in Sarr and could be back to make another attempt at signing him this summer.

While the transfer proposal in January may have failed, the player has “remained in the sights” of Salernitana.

However, it is thought they would face competition for his signature if he is made available for transfer.

Much like Bryan Gil, Pape Sarr is a player I would love to see more of at Spurs and hopefully our next manager gives him a proper opportunity.

So, a loan move would likely be beneficial for both as they would get regular game time under their belt and return to the club in the summer as better players.

If Tottenham do not sign a central midfielder this summer, which appears likely to be the case, then I expect Conte to hang on to Sarr as a squad player.  If the North London club do manage to pull off a surprise signing like Franck Kessie, then it will not make much sense to keep Sarr at the club as the 20-year-old is hardly going to get any game time at all.

Salernitana are preparing for their first season back in the Italian top-flight since 1999 and look set to sign Simy for a cut-price of £5m to add to some firepower to their side.

The Italian club got promoted into Serie A for the new campaign whilst Simy’s current side, Crotone, went the other way in getting relegated to Serie B.

However, the striker still managed to score 20 goals in the league last season, which is an impressive total considering the club got relegated.

The Telegraph previously reported on July 28 that Tottenham were looking at the striker, with new managing director of football Fabio Paratici keen to bring him to North London.

However, it now appears that the Nigerian international is set to stay in Italy instead.

The problem with leaving the Kane saga so late is that alternatives will make their moves before Spurs are ready. Simy could have been a target but he is set to make his move to another club now.

A good striker by all means but not one that could have replaced Kane. For a cut-price, he could have been a good backup.
