Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham scouts watched Metz striker Georges Mikautadze in action against Clermont Foot this weekend.
The forward scored 23 goals and provided eight assists in Ligue 2 last season to help Metz bounce straight back to the top flight and he has had an impressive start to the Ligue 1 campaign, with two goals and an assist in the first three league games.
This includes a 69th-minute strike to help his side emerge with a 1-0 win from the Stade Saint-Symphorien on Sunday.
Football Insider claim that scouts from Spurs watched the Frenchman in action against Clermont Foot, with the striker said to be on the North London club’s radar as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.
Some fans may remember that Spurs have had recent success in shopping around the Metz squad, having signed Pape Matar Sarr from the French club.
Spurs face competition in race for Mikautadze
However, the publication adds that the Lilywhites are far from the only club eyeing a move for Mikautadze, with Ajax said to have held talks with Metz over the player while Burnley have even had an offer rejected for him this transfer window.
In addition, the outlet reveals that West Ham and Leicester City had also sent scouts to France to watch the 22-year-old in action this weekend.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham’s scouts will likely be watching a whole host of players across Europe. So, just because they were at Stade Saint-Symphorien on Sunday does not mean that a bid for Mikautadze is on the cards before Friday’s transfer deadline.
