Rodrigo Bentancur took to social media to open up on his difficult rehabilitation process and admitted that he is over the moon to be back playing football.

Bentancur had been one of Tottenham’s most consistent performers in his first year at the North London club, and the Uruguayan was a huge miss for the side during the final few months of last season after picking up an ACL injury against Leicester City back in February.

While the 26-year-old had been back in training for the last couple of weeks, it was reported a few days ago that he is not expected to return to action until November (The Standard).

To people’s surprise, Bentancur was named on the bench for Tottenham’s clash against Crystal Palace and came on in the 90th minute, helping the away side see out a 2-1 win.

Rodrigo Bentancur is finally back for Tottenham

There was a touching moment after the final whistle as the midfielder’s teammates pushed him to the front so that he could take in the accolades from the travelling supporters at Selhurst Park.

Bentancur has taken to Instagram to thank those who supported him during the last eight months and admitted that he is looking forward to enjoying his football again.

Bentancur also recorded the following video message to Spurs fans after his comeback:

Bentancur would likely need a few weeks, or potentially even a month or two, to return to his best and Postecoglou can afford to ease him into proceedings, given how well Sarr and Bissouma are playing at the moment. There is no doubt that the Uruguayan will improve the side considerably if he returns to his pre-injury levels.
