Mundo Deportivo have now claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are ready to sit down at the negotiating table with Atletico Madrid for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Last week, we relayed a report from the print edition of AS (12/08/23 via Sport Witness), which suggested that Hojbjerg’s proposed move to Atletico is being delayed by the Spanish side’s inability to offload their unwanted players.
It was explained that the La Liga giants had made no progress on their pursuit of the Dane and they would need to sell at least two players before making a move for the 28-year-old if they are to ensure they do not breach FFP regulations.
Atletico have not met Tottenham’s demands
If Mundo Deportivo’s latest update is to be believed, there has still been no concrete movement on the Hojbjerg front.
The publication explains that Diego Simeone remains keen on bolstering his midfield, with the Tottenham man continuing to be at the top of the club’s wishlist.
However, it is said that while Spurs are ‘open to negotiating’, Los Rojiblancos has still ‘not reached’ the demands of the North London side.
Spurs Web Opinion
It appears as if this transfer saga is likely to drag into the final week or so of the transfer window. That would be far from ideal for Tottenham as Postecoglou would want to bring a replacement through the door if the Dane does depart the club.
