After agent, Morris Pagniello, who claimed to be a consultant for Santiago Gimenez, spoke about Tottenham’s interest in the player, the Mexican has now asked people to discount what was said.
Gimenez has been one of the hottest strikers in Europe so far season, having scored 15 goals in 11 matches across all competitions, and the centre-forward is thought to be of interest to several Premier League clubs, including Tottenham (90 min).
Earlier this week, TV Play (via Sport Witness) suggested that the 22-year-old is likely to be England-bound in January, with the Feyenoord man alleged to have received ‘great interest’ from Spurs.
The publication added that Ange Postecoglou’s side are following Gimenez with ‘great attention’ and are ‘willing to accommodate’ him in their squad, with Eredivisie club thought to value the striker at €45m-€50m (£39.2m-£43.5m).
Santiago Gimenez is not talking about transfers yet
A couple of days ago, Pagniello, who claimed to be a consultant for Gimenez and his father (who is also his agent), asserted that Spurs and Real Madrid are leading the race for the striker’s statement.
However, when asked about that claim, the Feyenoord striker has now said (via Fabrizio Romano): “In recent days, people far from my camp mentioned me and my future. I have no agent.
“The only person taking care of my career is my dad with Mariel. Don’t consider any statement from other people. If we have any news to share, we’ll let you know.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Gimenez has essentially acknowledged that Pagniello is from ‘his camp’ (even though he is not his representative), which is why we cannot dismiss what the Italian has said. So, it seems like Tottenham’s interest in the Mexican is concrete.
