Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League match against the Reds which takes place tomorrow evening.
Last time out, Lawrenson predicted that Tottenham would lose the North London derby 2-0 when in fact Ange Postecoglou’s side came twice from behind to register a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Arsenal.
Both teams go into the match still unbeaten in the top flight with Liverpool having the slightly better record with two points more to their name having won five and drawn one of their opening six matches.
Can Spurs finally beat Liverpool?
Tottenham have had more time to prepare for the fixture after their penalty shoot-out defeat to Fulham in the Carabao Cup second round meant they were not in action in midweek while Liverpool came from behind to beat Championship outfit Leicester City 3-1 at Anfield.
Lawrenson told PaddyPower: “I should say Liverpool will win 3-1 as that’s been the score in their last four! I’m going to go for a draw though.
“There’s no doubt Tottenham have got a really good manager and he’s obviously got a way about him because the spirit in the side is really good, even without Harry Kane.
“Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool.”

Considering that Lawrenson never, ever tips Liverpool to lose a fixture just goes to show how much he has been left impressed by the work Ange Postecoglou has undertaken already having inherited a disheartened fanbase and a squad that lacked confidence following the tenure of Antonio Conte.
Another point against a top-six side would be a decent result, however, a victory would certainly make those who doubt the Australian’s work to sit up and take notice.
