Former Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente has urged Juventus to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from the North London club.

Multiple Italian outlets have claimed over the last couple of weeks that Juve are plotting a January move for Hojbjerg, with the Italian club’s hierarchy said to be ‘fascinated’ by the midfielder’s profile (Gazzetta dello Sport).

However, Calciomercato.it explained a few days ago that while Juve value the former Southampton man, a deal for the player would prove difficult to pull off.

This is because Tottenham would demand £26m for Hojbjerg even though he is not a regular starter for them, with Juventus preferring to invest that sort of money in a young player.

Additionally, it was alleged that Massimiliano Allegri’s men could face competition for the 28-year-old’s signature from Atletico Madrid.

Fernando Llorente recommends Hojbjerg to Juventus

However, Llorente, who hung up his boots earlier this year, believes that Juve should not hesitate in moving for the Tottenham man.

When asked about Hojbjerg, the Spaniard told Gazzetta dello Sport: “I faced him in the Premier League. He is a leader, a captain and is what Juventus need to start a new successful era.”

It remains to be seen if Juve would be able to stump up the £25m-£30m that Tottenham are likely to demand for Hojbjerg. I still feel that Atletico Madrid is the 28-year-old’s most likely destination in January.
