Fichajes.net have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are now preparing an offer for Real Sociedad star Brais Mendez in January.
The versatile Mendez, who can operate as a number eight, a number ten or wide on the right, has had a fantastic start to the new season, with five goals and six assists across all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).
According to Fichajes, the 26-year-old’s performances have caught the attention of Tottenham, who have been ‘closely monitoring’ the player recently.
Spurs are impressed by Brais Mendez
The report states that the Lilywhites have been impressed by the Spain international’s ‘remarkable’ showings at Reale Arena and that Ange Postecoglou has given the green light to bring the attacker to N17.
The publication asserts that Spurs are currently in the ‘planning phase’ to present a ‘tempting proposal’ to Real Sociedad for Mendez as soon as the transfer window opens on January 1.
It is alleged that the 26-year-old could be tempted to try his luck in the Premier League if Tottenham come calling.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham’s rumoured interest in Mendez and Bayer Leverkusen’s s Florian Wirtz suggests that Postecoglou wants to sign a versatile attacker, who can operate through the middle or on the flanks.
That could potentially mean that the club are planning to offload Giovani Lo Celso in January, which would leave them without any natural cover for James Maddison in the number 10 role.
