Cristian Romero has excelled under new manager, Ange Postecoglou, already, and now the centre-half has been speaking about the Australian’s suitability for the role at Tottenham Hotspur.
After the debacle of last season, Tottenham needed a new manager and simply had to get it right. After the high-profile appointments of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte failed to deliver success, the club went in a different direction when they hired Ange Postecoglou.
The 58-year-old arrived at the club on the back of winning an historic treble with Scottish giants Celtic, but came as a relative unknown to many fans of the English game. It is safe to say that any scepticism around his appointment has vanished now, however.
The Lilywhites have made an unbeaten start to the new Premier League campaign, the players have hit the ground running to assimilate to Postecoglou’s style of play, and perhaps most importantly, the fans are happy with what they are seeing.
Ange Postecoglou is a perfect fit, says Romero
Cristian Romero, named as one of Postecoglou’s vice-captains this season, has been praising his manager and the impact he has made since arriving at the club.
He told Optus Sport: “[Postecoglou] is a person whose ambition is clear. He just wants to win. From the first day he got here he made that very evident. I think the club needed this kind of manager who fits perfectly with the history of the club.
“He is a good person. All his coaching staff are good people, who work 24 hours a day for us. And he’s got his objectives clear. He wants to achieve things.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Ange Postecoglou appears to be exactly what Spurs needed. He’s a great coach who appreciates exciting football, which is something the fans have missed of late.
But, most importantly he seems like a very good human being, who cares about his players and the fans, and that kind of approach goes a long way to finding success.
