Son Heung-min’s goal yesterday meant he became Asia’s leading Premier League goalscorer and the winger also established himself as the most prolific player from the continent to grace the competition.

The South Korea international was in inspired form yesterday and scored our second goal in our 4-1 victory over Liverpool , which equalled for Manchester United star Park Ji-Sung’s total of 19 Premier League goals, the most scored by any Asian players to feature in the League.

Son set an Asian record with his total of 14 goals in the 2016/17 season and it has taken him 70 matches to match Park’s Premier League haul, 40 of which have been starts.

His average of a goal every 185 minutes is far better than Park’s average of a goal every 500.5 minutes, and is comfortably the best goal ratio of any player from Asia.

He is often criticised for his lacklustre displays and can certainly be the fall guy if things aren’t going well. However yesterday he played a lot closer to Kane and if luck was with him he would have bagged a few more. A very important player to the club.
