TEAMtalk have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have enquired about the availability of Brighton striker Evan Ferguson, with the North London side said to have identified the youngster as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.
We relayed a report from The Athletic on Saturday, which claimed that Tottenham did enquire about Ferguson earlier in the summer but their pursuit of the striker ended when he signed a new five-year deal at the Amex Stadium.
However, if TEAMtalks’ latest assertion is to be believed, Spurs have not yet given up on their pursuit of the teenager.
It is alleged that following Kane’s departure to the Allianz Arena, the Lilywhites reached out to the Seagulls to check if they would be willing to part ways with Ferguson this summer.
Spurs have reached out about Evan Ferguson
The report states contact was made through intermediaries to explore the availability of the 18-year-old, who found the back of the net for Brighton in their win over Luton Town on Saturday.
However, TEAMtalk explain that it would be a ‘tough deal’ for Tottenham to pull off as the South Coast club have ‘little appetite’ for any approach for Fergusson.
The publication adds that Spurs, nevertheless, are doing their ‘due diligence’ on various options to replace Kane, which is why they wanted to check on the Republic of Ireland international.

Brighton can be a hard club to negotiate with and any chance of prizing Ferguson away from the Amex Stadium ended back in April when the 18-year-old put pen to paper on a new contract.
Based on the various reports over the past 48 hours, it appears as if Spurs have now set their sights on Gent’s Gift Orban.
