In what comes as a blow to Tottenham, Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Brighton have agreed a deal with Barcelona to sign Ansu Fati on loan.
It was widely reported by various outlets on Wednesday that Spurs were locked in talks with Barca over a loan deal for Fati, with Mundo Deportivo asserting that the Lilywhites were in pole position to land the forward.
The publication even suggested that the 20-year-old had informed Sevilla that he was heading to Tottenham and that his agent, Jorge Mendes, was trying to finalise an agreement swiftly.
Brighton have won the race for Ansu Fati over Spurs
Brighton have now seemingly come from nowhere to land Fati, with Romano taking to social media to give his ‘here we go’ seal of approval for the transfer.
The journalist revealed that the Spain international will head to the Amex Stadium on a straight loan deal without an option to buy, with the Seagulls covering the majority of the players’ salary.
Romano added that Fati will travel to the South Coast for his medical today as Brighton want the deal done as soon as possible.

Spurs Web Opinion
There was no way Tottenham were going to accept a loan deal for Fati without any option to buy. So, if that was the player’s preference (or Barcelona’s), I can see why Spurs pulled out of the deal. If we wanted Fati on loan, we would have certainly gotten him ahead of Brighton.
