Michael Owen believes that Harry Kane made a huge mistake by leaving Tottenham this summer, insisting that the striker should have stayed at his boyhood club for one more season and left on a free transfer next year.

Kane’s decision to swap Spurs for Bayern Munch in the summer perhaps came as a surprise to some, given how close the striker is to breaking Alan Shearer’s Premier League goals record.

However, the England captain has insisted since that move that the record was not something he was particularly focused on and that winning silverware was always his priority (Sky Sports Football Daily).

The 30-year-old has certainly made an impressive start to life at the Bavarian side, having scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 12 matches across all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).

Despite the numbers that Kane is posting in Germany, Owen believes that the striker should have given Tottenham one more season and could have had the option of joining any club of his choice next summer.

Did Harry Kane make a mistake by leaving Spurs?

The former Liverpool striker told DAZN Bet (as relayed by The Metro): “Harry Kane is an unbelievable player and it shouldn’t be a surprise he’s still playing well, that’s just a given. He’s such a wonderful talent.

“But I don’t agree with his move from Spurs to Bayern, as I said at the time. He should have stayed at Spurs for another year. If he was so desperate to leave and to win trophies, then he could easily have had the world in his hands by going on a Bosman transfer at the end of the season.

“If Spurs miraculously started playing well and looking like title challengers, he could have always stayed, but regardless he would have had his destiny in his hands and gone to any club he wanted to all while he was getting closer to that Premier League goalscoring record and creating the perfect legacy with the club he’s been at all his life.”

Owen added that the only way for Kane to prove him wrong would be to win the Champions League at Bayern, insisting that winning the Bundesliga would not be an impressive achievement.

He continued: “Bayern are undoubtedly one of the biggest clubs in the world but for me to win a trophy, I don’t think there’s anything really special about going and guaranteeing yourself a Bundesliga trophy. Bayern will win the league with or without Kane, so I don’t think that was particularly a reason to leave.

“The only thing is that he gets to play in the Champions League, to have a chance of winning but in my book Manchester City will win it and if it’s not them then other teams have a chance too, Bayern being one of them, but City are the standout.

“I said at the time I didn’t think it was the right thing and I still stick by that. But if he goes and wins the Treble at Bayern, you can say I was wrong, but if he only wins the Bundesliga, then I would feel as strongly as I do now that it wasn’t the right move.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While I agree with Owen’s point, I am sure that Levy would have made it clear to Kane that he had to leave this summer if he did not sign a new contract.

In a way, we are lucky that Kane wanted to ensure that Spurs get a fee for him rather than standing his ground and leaving on a free transfer in a year.

According to a report from Bayern Insider podcast (as relayed by Fussball Transfers), Bayern Munich could make a move to sign Eric Dier from Tottenham in January.

Dier has not played a single minute so far this season and with the centre-back’s contract running out next summer, there have been suggestions over the last month that Tottenham will try to offload the 29-year-old in January (Football Insider).

It has emerged over the last couple of weeks that Sporting Lisbon are plotting a move to re-sign the England international (The Times) while Jose Mourinho wants to reunite with the player at AS Roma (CalcioMercato).

Bayern Munich move now a possibility for Eric Dier

Football Transfers have now asserted that Bayern are looking to bolster their options in central defence, with Dier being one of the names on their wishlist.

It is explained that while Thomas Tuchel wants to sign Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah, some at the Bundesliga club are not fans of the 24-year-old and are exploring other options.

One of those is said to be Dier, with the report adding that a move for the Tottenham man could come into greater focus for the German side over the coming weeks.

Spurs Web Opinion

Dier would want to join a club where he can get regular game time. That is not going to happen at Bayer, with Kim Min-Jae, Dayot Upamecano and Matthijs de Ligt already at the club. So, I would be surprised if the Tottenham man green-lights the move to the Allianz Arena.

According to Tony Cascarino, Harry Kane has improved in the short space of time since leaving Tottenham, and looks more physically imposing than ever before.

Harry Kane was pretty good at Spurs, let’s be honest. The talismanic striker rose through the Tottenham academy to become the club’s all-time leading goalscorer, and will forever hold a legendary status among the fans.

After months of speculation, Kane ended his long affiliation with Spurs and made a big money move to Bayern Munich at the start of August. The deal to sign the England captain cost an initial £86m, but could rise to over £100m (Sky Sports).

It’s been a terrific star for Kane since he moved to Germany, too. The forward has nine goals and five assists in his first ten games for the Bundesliga champions (Transfermarkt).

He added to his international tally earlier this week, too, scoring two goals in the 3-1 win over Italy to help England seal qualification for next summer’s European Championships.

Is Harry Kane better than ever?

Commenting on Kane after the game, Cascarino was full of praise for the former Tottenham marksman, and explained how the 30-year-old has changed recently.

He told The Times: “I have never seen Kane look as physically imposing as he did against Italy… He was holding off opposition defenders with tremendous upper body strength, and on the rare occasions when an Italy player got close enough to give him a shoulder barge, he barely moved.

“Although he has never been easy to shove off the ball, the physicality Kane displayed throughout this performance was a step up from his Tottenham Hotspur days. However, he has not been at Bayern Munich long enough for this change to be solely a product of his move to Germany.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Kane has been on fire in his early days in Germany, and doesn’t look like he’s slowing down any time soon. I think that it’s quite natural for a player like Kane to show signs of improvement after joining a different league and finding himself up against a different challenge.

In what comes as a potential blow to Tottenham in their pursuit of Kalvin Phillips, 90 min have now revealed that Bayern Munich have made contact over a move for the Manchester City star.

It was Football Transfers who first reported last week that Spurs were ‘really keen’ on signing Phillips in January, with the midfielder alleged to have made his mind up to leave the Etihad Stadium in search of regular game time.

The Mirror subsequently suggested a couple of days ago that the 27-year-old’s agents are fielding enquiries ahead of January and alleged that City would even be open to loaning out the player.

Bayern enter race for Spurs-linked Kalvin Phillips

If 90 min’s latest update is to be believed, Bayern have now reached out to City over Phillip’s availability in January.

The report explains that Joao Palhinha remains the Bundesliga club’s top target and that they are expected to renew their interest in the Fulham star after failing to get a deal for him over the line in the summer.

However, the Bavarians are thought to have identified Phillips as an alternative, with Thomas Tuchel said to be a fan of the former Leeds man.

The publication adds that the England international is also attracting interest from a whole host of Premier League clubs, including Spurs, Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

Spurs Web Opinion

With Conor Gallagher now looking set to remain at Chelsea and even potentially sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge, I would not be surprised if Spurs turn their attention to Phillips.

The 26-year-old ticks several boxes as he is homegrown, has Premier League experience and is not likely to cost a fortune.

Harry Kane is delighted to see how well Tottenham Hotspur are doing this season but insisted that he has no regrets about leaving the club to join Bayern Munich in the summer.

Hardly anyone gave Spurs a chance of competing for a top-four spot this season after their record goalscorer completed a move to Bayern in the summer, with some pundits even suggesting that they would struggle to finish in the top half of the table (Football Insider).

However, Ange Postecoglou’s men are sitting at the summit of the Premier League table after the first eight games, having won six and drawn two so far.

Harry Kane has insisted that he always wanted to test himself away from the Premier League, which is why he will never regret the move to the Allianz Arena.

Harry Kane has no Tottenham exit regrets

When asked about potentially having second thoughts about the move, Kane told The Daily Star: “To experience a new league, if I got to 40 and I was retired and I looked back and never played in another league I would have always wondered what it would have been like. So now I am here, I am excited and it will always be a decision I never regret.”

The England captain admitted that despite the glittering career he has had so far, he still wants to continue improving as a footballer, and made it clear that he wants to play at the highest level for many years to come.

Kane added: “There is definitely room for improvement. I have been coming to a stage over the last year or two when it has been coming together, having the experience, knowing your body, knowing the way you want to play, playing in high-pressure games.

“When you look at a lot of the top-level players – Ronaldos, Messis, Lewandowskis, Ibrahimovich – they have almost got better as they hit 30. In a lot of sports that happens as well. Everything is maybe settled in your personal life.

“You have got family, you have got kids – so that side is all settled. You are comfortable with your body, you are comfortable mentally where you are at and that just allows you to focus on the football.

“The perception in sport or football in general is you hit 30 and people start to think the end. But the way I am looking at it is that I almost have the second half of my career

“I played in the first team at Spurs from 20 or 21 so I have had nine or 10 years at the highest level and I am hoping for another eight or nine years at the highest level again. It all depends.

“You see some players who want to have a different change or challenge so I would never be able to tell you what I will do but at the moment, I just want to keep playing.

“I think, with everything, with recovery, sports science and the way the game has been and adapted, it has allowed players to play for longer. We may have a bit more information over what the players had in the past.

“But when you look at the players you said [Ronaldo, Messi and Lewandowski]. That makes me believe and shows it is possible to play until your late thirties and that is what I am planning to do.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The Kane transfer is one of those rare instances where all three parties benefited immensely. This was the right time for Spurs to cash in on him (given his contract situation) since the club were starting afresh under Postecoglou.

The striker himself needed to add silverware to his CV while Bayern have managed to get the best in class in order to have a serious go at winning the Champions League.

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has claimed that the German club will not even have to pay €100m (£86.7m) for Harry Kane unless they win several trophies.

Fabrizio Romano reported in the summer after the conclusion of the deal to take Kane to the Allianz Arena that it is worth £104m including add-ons.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold subsequently suggested that the fee could rise to as high as £120m if certain add-ons are met.

Bayern Munich comment on true Harry Kane fee

However, Hainer has now stated that those figures are overblown, with all the bonuses depending on Bayern winning silverware.

The German club’s president told FAZ (as relayed by TZ): “Harry Kane didn’t cost more than €100m – unless we win this, this and this in the next few seasons. Without bonuses, we are under €100m.”

Kane has certainly hit the ground running since his move in the summer, with the striker having registered 13 contributions (nine goals and four assists) in eight matches across all competitions.

Hainer has remarked that Bayern had to pay a premium for the Tottenham man due to the goal guarantee he offers, which only a few strikes in world football do.

He added: “There are only a few strikers in this category who, on the one hand, fit us and, on the other, make us better. And because there are only a few, they come at a price.

“With Harry Kane, we finally have a goal guarantee again – he stands where a striker has to stand and he also scores a lot of goals.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham and Bayern will both put out favourable figures in order to show that they ‘won’ the negotiation. However, one would think that any add-ons which depend on Bayern winning the Bundesliga are close to a guarantee, given the club’s recent record.

It has not taken a lot of time for Harry Kane to show his quality in Germany, with the striker clinching the record for scoring the most goals in his first five Bundesliga games.

The 30-year-old had already netted four in his first four league games heading into this weekend and he put Bochum to the sword on Saturday, netting a hat-trick and also registering two other assists.

That means that the former Tottenham man now has 10 goal contributions to his name (seven goals and three assists) in his first five league games of the season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the England captain has now beaten the previous record tally after five matches (6) held jointly by Gerd Müller, Miroslav Klose and Mario Mandzukic.

Spurs Web Opinion

There was never really any doubt that Kane was going to score well over 30 goals for Bayern, given the chances that they create. That is why the German giants paid over £100m for the 30-year-old even though he only had a year left on his contract.

After Daniel Levy suggested Tottenham Hotspur have a buy-back clause included in the deal to sell Harry Kane, Bayern Munich director Christoph Freund has insisted the player is part of the long-term future at the German club.

The transfer story of the summer was undoubtedly the protracted negotiations between Tottenham and Bayern Munich for the signature of Harry Kane.

Despite two bids being rejected, the Bundesliga champions eventually got their man for around £86m (Sky Sports).

It has been a strong start for the England captain out in Germany, too. Kane has now bagged five goals in his first six games for his new club (Transfermarkt).

Funnily enough, Spurs are coping pretty well without their former star striker. Under Ange Postecoglou, the Lilywhites have made an unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign and are playing the kind of exciting football fans have longed for.

Can Spurs sign Harry Kane back?

It has emerged in the last 24 hours, however, that there could be a way back to North London for Kane should he ever want to return. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy confirmed in an interview with Bloomberg that the deal to sell Kane included an option to buy him back one day.

Sky Sports clarified the situation somewhat last night, stating Spurs will have first refusal to match any bid from a Premier League rival if Bayern were to accept any advances for Kane in the future.

Now, Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Christoph Freund has addressed the matter. He told DAZN (DAZN – as relayed by Fabrizio Romano): “Spurs buy-back clause for Harry Kane? We never reveal anything about contract details. We have a four-year contract with him. We are very, very happy and are planning long-term with him at Bayern. He will shape this team and an era here.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Harry Kane has been gone a little over a month, so any talk over him leaving Bayern or coming back to Spurs is irrelevant really. We have got a good thing going without him, and he is doing well over in Germany, so there is not really any use in thinking about whether he would come back in a few years time.

GiveMeSport have revealed that Harry Kane might not want to return to the Premier League following his spell at Bayern Munich.

On Tuesday, Daniel Levy admitted in the fan forum held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium that Spurs have a buy-back clause for Kane.

It has been subsequently clarified by Sky Sports that the clause is actually a right-to-match rather than a buy-back, which means that Tottenham will have the chance to match any offer from England that Bayern accept for the striker.

Harry Kane

The same information was also backed up by The Daily Mail, who further explained yesterday that Kane’s relationship with Levy became frosty over the summer as the Spurs chairman made the 30-year-old’s move to Bayern quite difficult.

The outlet suggested that the Tottenham academy graduate is thus unlikely to be in favour of returning to his former stomping ground

Kane might not return to Premier League at all

GiveMeSport have now provided another reason why Kane might not return to Tottenham, explaining that the striker is not guaranteed to finish his career in England.

The outlet suggests that the centre-forward is not ruling out joining another team in Europe following his adventure in Munich and that he is also open to a move to the MLS, with David Beckham’s Inter Miami named as a potential destination.

Spurs Web Opinion

I can see Kane wanting to finish his career in the United States but I would be surprised if the striker does not return to the Premier League in three or four years. He might want to have a couple of seasons back in the English top flight and have a go at breaking Shearer’s record.

The Daily Mail have revealed that Harry Kane is unlikely to consider returning to Tottenham Hotspur as his relationship with Daniel Levy became quite frosty over the summer.

When asked in the fan forum at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday if Tottenham have a buy-back clause on Kane, Levy confirmed the rumours.

However, it has since been revealed by Sky Sports Football Daily that Spurs have a right-to-match clause rather than a buy-back clause, which means that the Lilywhites would be given the chance to match any offer that Bayern accept for the striker from another English club.

Harry Kane is unlikely to consider a Spurs return

The same information regarding the right-to-match clause has now also been confirmed by The Mail, who go on to suggest that the 30-year-old is unlikely to be in favour of a return to N17.

The outlet reveals that Levy made a summer switch to Bayern ‘increasingly difficult’ for Kane and even pushed back on parts of the deal at the last moment, which led the striker to miss his original scheduled flight to Munich.

In addition, the England captain was allegedly blocked from re-entering Hotspur Way in the hours leading up to his departure after the club had accepted Bayern’s offer.

As a result, Kane’s relationship with Levy is said to have been ‘strained’ and The Mail suggest it is a ‘significant hurdle’ towards the Tottenham academy graduate’s future return.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have no doubts that Kane will want to finish his career in England. However, whether or not a return to Spurs is on the cards is unclear at the moment. That depends on several different factors and a lot could change in three or four years.

If Harry Kane is ever going to return to the Premier League, it seems Tottenham Hotspur may have the advantage in that hypothetical race. That’s because it has emerged that Spurs have a buy-back clause which gives them the first option on their former striker.

After months of speculation over the summer, Tottenham and Harry Kane finally parted ways last month. The England captain joined German giants Bayern Munich in a deal worth an initial £86m (Sky Sports).

Kane leaves behind a great legacy at the North London club, having become Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer earlier this year (GOAL).

He also leaves behind the chance of becoming the Premier League’s all-time top goalscorer, too. Kane is currently 47 goals behind Alan Shearer’s long-standing record, though the 30-year-old has insisted that record did not factor into his consideration when deciding to leave Spurs (Football Daily).

If Kane was to ever come back to England to pursue that record, it is likely that there would be a queue of clubs looking at him. Just this summer, both Manchester United (Mirror) and Chelsea (Metro) were linked with the star striker.

Spurs have first option on Harry Kane

Now, it has been revealed that Tottenham will have first refusal on Kane if he is ever to look at a return to the Premier League.

Paul Gilmour of Sky Sports broke the news on Wednesday, saying: “Daniel Levy was asked at a fan forum if there is a buy-back clause and he replied, ‘Of course’.

“Now, the information that we have received is that Tottenham essentially have a first option on re-signing Harry Kane if he ever comes back to the Premier League.

“So, it’s something similar to what they had in the Gareth Bale deal. What it means is, if another English club come in with a bid for Harry Kane at any point, and Bayern Munich accept that bid, Tottenham would be given first refusal to match that offer. It would then be up to Kane if would go back to Tottenham.

“However, we are in the early stages of Harry Kane’s career at Bayern, and every indication suggests he will see out that contract. It will certainly be far from his thoughts, right now, I imagine. He is very much focused on those early days and settling into this city and finding his feet in a Bayern shirt.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It would be brilliant to see Kane come back to Spurs one day and maybe break that goalscoring record. Who knows, maybe he could even win a trophy with us before he retires. But, that is all a long way off and we needn’t really think about the idea of a Kane return for a couple of years at least.

Harry Kane has been speaking to the press ahead of his Champions League debut for Bayern Munich, but has also revealed he is still keeping an eye on Spurs, too.

After coming through the Tottenham academy and becoming the club’s all-time leading goalscorer, no one can ever take Harry Kane‘s legendary status away from him.

However, a summer filled with speculation ultimately led to the talismanic striker leaving his boyhood club to join Bayern Munich. The deal took months to thrash out, but could eventually cost the German giants around £100m (Sky Sports).

Kane has got off to a great start over in Germany, bagging four goals in his first five games (Transfermarkt).

Back in England, things are going rather well for Tottenham, too. New boss Ange Postecoglou has got the team playing attractive, exciting football once more, and the Lilywhites are currently second in the league after an unbeaten start.

Harry Kane says he will always follow Spurs

It seems Kane has not stopped following his former club despite moving on, as he revealed in his latest press conference (via Football Daily) how impressed he has been with their performances so far.

He said: “In terms of Tottenham, fantastic start. I’m always keeping an eye on them, I think I will always keep an eye on them for the rest of my life. I’m really happy to see the team playing the way they are and of course, I’m happy to see the fans happy.

“I’m sure they’ll be excited to keep that up. They have a massive game coming up, so for sure, I will see how they get on through the course of the season.”

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy confirmed the club have a buy-back clause for Harry Kane in the deal they negotiated which saw Bayern Munich land the talisman (Evening Standard).

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s only natural that Kane would still be tracking Tottenham’s progress since he left, just as many Spurs fans are still keeping an eye on what Kane is doing over in Germany. The connection between the club and Harry Kane will never go away, and it’s nice to know that he still feels that, too.

Harry Kane has been discussing the summer of speculation that led to his move to Bayern Munich, and has suggested there were talks with other clubs regarding a possible transfer.

Rumours regarding Harry Kane had been ongoing for the last few years, and it seemed inevitable that the striker would leave Tottenham this summer.

Heading into the final year of his contract at the North London club, it became clear that Kane was keen to move on and try to win some trophies.

The transfer saga was the talk of the summer. Bayern Munich had two offers rejected by Spurs for the England captain, but eventually got their man in a deal which could be worth over £100 million (Sky Sports).

Kane has made a fantastic start to life in Germany, too, with four goals in five games for the Bundesliga champions (Transfermarkt).

Who else wanted to sign Harry Kane from Spurs?

Bayern were not the only team to be linked to Kane over the summer, with reports suggesting Manchester United (Mirror), PSG (Sky Sports), Chelsea (Metro), and Real Madrid (EuroSport) were all keen.

Now, Kane himself has revealed that there were talks with other clubs before he made the move to Bayern Munich, and insists the German side were the only club he wanted to sign for.

In a press conference clip shared by Football Daily, Kane said: “I know there were some talks between a few clubs in the background but Bayern were a team I was really interested in and excited by.

“There wasn’t too much discussion once they came in. Obviously, it was between them and Tottenham to talk, and then the deal got done. My focus is here, I decided to come here and I’m really glad I have.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I am glad Harry Kane got the move he wanted and am especially glad he’s not playing in the Premier League for another team. Hopefully, he can achieve everything he wants to achieve over in Germany and get the trophies he deserves.

Former Liverpool midfielder Luis Garcia has criticised Harry Kane over his recent comments about Tottenham Hotspur and the pressure of winning games there to that of Bayern Munich.

Kane sealed his departure from Tottenham last month in a £100million deal to Bayern Munich (The Guardian) having had less than a year remaining on his contract with his boyhood club and signed a deal with the Bundesliga giants until June 2027.

The 30-year-old failed to win any silverware during his 19-year association with Tottenham and claimed that failing to win a couple of matches in a row for the Premier League side was not considered to be a disaster.

Kane told Sky Sports.“It’s a different pressure to what I felt at Spurs. Of course, we wanted to win things but if you went a couple of games without winning, it wasn’t a disaster. The feeling at Bayern is that you have to win every game.”

Harry Kane’s comments were disrespectful to Tottenham

Garcia told ESPN: “I think that he was the captain, he should’ve stepped up and said: ‘listen, we need to win this one, and we’re going to talk with the chairman and we have to win every single game’. Maybe some of that is on his fault,”

“There are ways of saying things and I think I wouldn’t agree. I wouldn’t say that kind of comments because you are hurting a lot of teammates, players, fans, because if you’ve been part of that, then you are undermining that team that gave you so many important things to you, in terms of your career.”

SpursWeb Opinion

Many Tottenham fans do not appreciate Kane having to belittle the club to talk up his move to Bayern when the stark reality is that he failed to ‘turn up’ when the North Londoners had the opportunity of winning silverware.

The Champions League final was a prime example of how he came back into the side despite Lucas Moura’s heroics and did absolutely nothing to threaten the Liverpool goal, instead, spending the match being marked out of the game by Virgil van Dijk.

Harry Kane says the pressure to pick up results consistently is considerably higher at Bayern Munich than it was at Tottenham since the German side are expected to win every game.

Unsurprisingly, Kane has hit the ground running since his switch to the Allianz Arena this summer, with the striker having scored thrice in three Bundesliga games so far.

It seems overwhelmingly likely that the striker will break his trophy duck this season, given that Bayern have won 11 consecutive Bundesliga titles.

This season, Thomas Tuchel’s men are also considered by some to be one of the leading contenders to win the Champions League, given the signings that they have made this summer.

Harry Kane is thriving on the pressure at Bayern

Kane has now said that he is relishing going into games and competitions with higher expectations than he was used to at Spurs.

He told The Independent: “It’s definitely a different pressure compared to what I felt at Spurs. Of course, we wanted to win things at Spurs but if you went a couple of games without winning then it wasn’t a disaster.

“The feeling at Bayern is that you have to win every game. We won the first two games 4-0 and 3-1 and there was still talk about not being too happy about the way we played. That’s part and parcel of being at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“But we’ve had a good start and I’m enjoying feeling those different emotions and that’s part of the reason that I wanted to go. And we start the Champions League campaign when we get back, which they expect to win – or have a good chance of winning. So you’re going into those games with maybe a different feeling to what I’ve had in the past.”

Harry Kane

If Bayern do win the Champions League this season, Kane will lift the trophy in his hometown, with the final set to take place at Wembley.

When asked about a potential fairytale ending to the season in London, the 30-year-old said: “Yes! I have been told about the Champions League final in Wembley, for sure.

“I know the Euros are in Germany next summer so if there’s someone out there writing a movie, I will try and do my best to make it happen! It’s hard. There’s so much time to go I don’t want to think about it too much, but if it did happen it would be incredible.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I want Kane to lift the Champions League with Bayern as the striker is undoubtedly one of the best players in world football and he deserves to be in the frame for awards like the Ballon d’Or, given how consistent he has been over the best part of a decade.

The Guardian have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur will make an attempt to raid their London rivals for Conor Gallagher, who is also of interest to Bayern Munich.

Over the past 24 hours, multiple outlets (Daily Mail and The Times) have claimed that Spurs could make a move to sign Gallagher if they manage to offload Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

This morning, The Telegraph suggested that with Chelsea set to secure Cole Palmer from Manchester City, they could be tempted to sell Gallagher if Tottenham make a £50m offer for the player.

Strong chance of Gallagher leaving Chelsea

The Guardian have now gone a step further and asserted that there is no ‘ a strong chance’ that the 23-year-old will leave Stamford Bridge before tomorrow’s 11 pm deadline.

The report claims that Spurs are set to make a late move for Gallagher and could be challenged by Bayern Munich, with Thomas Tuchel said to be keen on bolstering his options in the middle of the park.

The outlet adds that while the England international is not in a rush to leave, the Blues might force him to do so if they receive the right offer, given that the midfielder has just two years left on his contract.

Spurs Web Opinion

While £50m is a steep fee for a player who is perhaps yet to consistently prove himself at the highest level, that is the going price for talented, young, homegrown players in the current market.

Gallagher would represent a significant upgrade over Hojbjerg in Ange’s system and the Spurs head coach will fancy his chances of getting the best out of the 23-year-old.

According to talkSPORT, Harry Kane has recommended the signing of Eric Dier to Bayern Munich.

On Tuesday, Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol told Sky Sports’ Football Daily that Dier has emerged as a shock late target for Bayern and that the centre-back could reunite with Kane at the Allianz Arena.

The journalist added that Bavarian giants are not the only German club interested in the 29-year-old, with rivals Borussia Dortmund also said to be eyeing a late deal for the player.

Harry Kane recommends Eric Dier to Bayern Munich

Bayern’s interest in Dier has now also been backed up by talkSPORT, who assert that Kane recommended the defender’s signing to Thomas Tuchel.

The publication adds that Tottenham are keen to offload the former Sporting Lisbon star before Friday evening’s transfer deadline since he has just one year left on his deal in North London.

It is alleged that Dier is also on the radars of London rivals, Fulham, who dumped Spurs out of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

Spurs Web Opinion

I find it extremely insulting to Dier that Spurs fans on social media are making him out to be some kind of a joke, given the service he has given to the club since arriving in 2014.

A lot of Tottenham fans seem to be forgetting the excellent spells that the 29-year-old has had, including under Pochettino. It is worth remembering that he was also solid during Conte’s first year in charge before falling away in the second half of last season.

Kane, who has trained with Dier every single day for the past nine years, is certainly a much better judge of the centre-back’s ability than fickle fans on social media, who evidently have a short memory.

According to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, Tottenham Hotspur have offered Eric Dier to Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the player.

Some of the most experienced and long-serving players at Tottenham have either left the club or are looking set to depart before the transfer window shuts later this week.

We have already seen Harry Winks move on to Championship side Leicester, while club legend Harry Kane ended a summer-long saga by joining Bayern Munich earlier this month.

The exodus may not be over just yet, either. According to Michael Bridge on Sky Sports’ Football Daily, Spurs are looking to sell as many as eight first-team players, including Hugo Lloris, Davinson Sanchez, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Eric Dier.

The latter has been at the club since 2014 and has made 361 appearances for Spurs (Transfermarkt), but it has been suggested that Dier could be used as a makeweight in a potential deal for Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo (Sky Sports).

Eric Dier offered to two German giants

Now, it has been revealed by Kaveh Solhekol (via Football Daily) that Dier has been offered to Bayern Munich, while fellow German club Borussia Dortmund are also keen on signing the England international.

Solhekol said: “There is a bit of a German tug-of-war going on at the moment for him. As far as Eric Dier is concerned, all the information we had is that he wanted to stay at Spurs. He had a troubling groin injury in the second half of last season, he had surgery and made a good recovery. He was fit and raring to go.

“He wanted to work under Ange Postecoglou, but for whatever reason, he hasn’t had a chance at Spurs. He is looking at other options, and he has two very good options in Germany. One at Bayern Munich, where he would get to play and work with his best friend, Harry Kane.

“Borussia Dortmund are pushing very hard to sign him, too. I think it would be a very good move for him. At his best, he is a good player, who is very versatile.”

In addition to this, it has just been confirmed by Sami Mokbel for the Daily Mail that Dier will not play a part in Spurs’ Carabao Cup tie with Fulham this evening, as speculation mounts over his future amid the links to Bayern Munich.

Spurs Web Opinion

A move to either of these clubs in Germany would be a great switch for Dier. Hopefully, this situation gets resolved one way or another quickly, so that we can bring in a replacement before the window shuts.

Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus believes Tottenham Hotspur ‘blackmailed’ the German giants into paying a Bundesliga record fee to sign Harry Kane.

Kane completed his £100m move to Bayern Munich from the North Londoners and made his debut earlier this month, coming off the bench in his side’s 3-0 German Super Cup defeat to RB Leipzig.

The 30-year-old netted his first goal for the Bavarian outfit upon his first start in Friday’s 4-0 victory over Werder Bremen and also provided the assist for Leroy Sane’s first with a deft clip over the top inside the first four minutes.

The negotiations between Bayern and Tottenham to broker a deal for Kane were certainly a drawn-out affair with Daniel Levy ensuring he managed to get every penny he wanted to the extent where CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen admitted he owes the Spurs supremo dinner the next time he is in London (Fussball News).

Lothar Matthaus shares his view on Harry Kane’s price tag

With Kane now in his thirties and having had less than a year left on his contract at Tottenham, Matthaus believes that while Bayern may have paid over the odds for the England captain, it is now down to the striker to prove his worth.

Matthaus told Sky90: “Those in charge at Bayern were and are 100 per cent convinced of Harry Kane.

“And that’s why they stretched themselves, that’s why they pushed their limits.

“And maybe Bayern has also – in quotation marks – been a little blackmailed by Tottenham.

“Another million more and a little bit more. They wanted this player.

“And I say – €100m [initial £85m fee] for a 30-year-old – Lewandowski was three years older when he left and went to Barcelona for around €50m [£42m] – I now assume that it will pay off.”

SpursWeb Opinion

Given the fact that Harry Kane scored 30 Premier League goals last season for an underperforming Tottenham side in a highly competitive league, he should have no problem in bettering his tally of the previous campaign considering the fact that the Bundesliga is nowhere near the same level.

Tottenham fans are now waiting to see whether they will make a move for Gift Orban or another forward to help fill the void by the club’s record goalscorer after Richarlison has looked out of sorts in the first two matches.

In his first official interview since leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich, Harry Kane has explained why he left the North London club to join the German giants this summer, and insists it is not entirely down to winning trophies.

After months of speculation throughout the summer, Harry Kane finally called time on his Spurs career after coming through the club’s academy and going on to become the Lilywhites’ all-time top goalscorer (GOAL).

As Kane entered the final year of his Tottenham contract this summer, speculation mounted that the England captain could move on this year rather than leaving for nothing at the end of the season.

Faced with a less-than-desirable situation either way, Daniel Levy and Tottenham decided to cash in on their star striker, with Kane joining Bayern Munich in a deal worth around £100m (Sky Sports).

It is now expected that Kane, who had previously failed to add a trophy to his array of individual honours, will finally get to life some silverware with the reigning Bundesliga champions.

Kane wants to keep improving at Bayern Munich

Speaking to Sky Sports about the move, Kane had plenty to say about his reasons for leaving Spurs and what he hopes to achieve now he is in Germany.

He said: “A lot of people talk about the trophies and why I came here, but ultimately it was to improve, to feel a new pressure of having to win titles every year, having to go far in the Champions League and pushing myself to that limit.

“If you are winning games, if you are winning titles, if you are winning Champions League titles and I’m the one playing up front, it’s more likely that I am going to be the one scoring goals, which then allows you to win other individual awards. But that all comes from what you achieve as a team.

“When you are at a club like Bayern Munich you have to win. There are no questions about it. If you don’t win or you don’t perform well there is going to be question marks over you. I have been able to handle that over my career, whether it is with Tottenham or with England.”

And, looking ahead to the future, Kane pondered how he will feel when he reflects on his career: “It’s hard to put a number on how many trophies you want to win but I have always said throughout my whole career I never want to retire and feel like I could have done more or I could have pushed myself a little bit more.

“That was a big part of the decision-making process of coming to Bayern Munich because to improve and to get better I had to be playing at the highest level.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s extremely hard to come to terms with the fact we won’t be seeing Harry Kane banging in the goals for Spurs this season, but now that the move is done and the dust has settled, I just hope Kane can achieve his dreams with Bayern and finally lift some trophies. He certainly deserves it.
