90 min have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are one of several clubs across the Premier League and Europe eyeing a move for Girona right-back Arnau Martinez.

Martinez has emerged as one of the most exciting right-backs in Spain since Girona’s promotion to La Liga last season.

The teenager, who has also operated as a centre-back and as a wing-back, has had an exceptional start to the new campaign and is now catching the attention of several top sides.

90 min state that in the Premier League, Spurs, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Liverpool, and Manchester United are all watching the Spain Under-21 international’s progress.

Lots of clubs are keeping an eye on Arnau Martinez

In addition, since Girona are part of the City Group, Manchester City are also thought to be keeping tabs on the player.

However, it is alleged that Real Madrid and Barcelona are also now ready to launch offers for Martinez, with both clubs said to be determined to keep the 19-year-old in Spain.

Finally, the publication reveals Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Napoli and Roma have all sent scouts to watch the Girona man this season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Pedro Porro has been exceptional this season and Emerson Royal has also delivered when called upon. So, I doubt singing a right-back would be a priority for Spurs in January or even next summer.

Tottenham’s last friendly before the Premier League season is against Girona at 7 pm BST tonight.

After two weeks in the USA for the International Champions Cup, many of the same players who featured there have travelled to Spain.

Spurs’ main men Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli have still not returned from their summer break after a prolonged World Cup journey.

Again, Spurs host a list of injuries with Moussa Sissoko, Josh Onomah and Victor Wanyama remaining in London.

Here is our predicted starting XI:

Vorm (C); Aurier, Carter-Vickers, Sanchez, Walker-Peters; Eriksen, Amos; Lucas, Son, N’Koudou; Llorente.

Timothy Eyoma started in the game against AC Milan but it was not the most convincing performance from the youngster and with the Premier League season just one week away Mauricio Pochettino may want to play is closest starting XI.

It will be interesting to see who will start at left-back, Kyle Walker-Peters won the Man of the Match award against Milan but Pochettino may want to start Ben Davies depending on his plans for the trip to Newcastle.

Luke Amos is expected to keep his place in the starting XI after proving to be Spurs’ stand out player throughout their USA tour.

Pochettino is likely to start Heung-min Son, the South Korean is available for the Newcastle trip but then will return to national duty to play in the Asian games.

Spurs fans, with the new season just around the corner how would your ideal starting XI lineup?

The Tottenham squad departed London this morning ahead of their clash with Girona tonight at 7 pm BST.

Spurs face their final pre-season test against the La Liga outfit before their opening game of the Premier League season in one week time against Newcastle United.

Luke Amos has travelled to Girona, the youngster is reportedly set to sign a new contract with the club following an impressive pre-season tour of the USA.

Many people also expect Amos to start in Tottenham’s Premier League opener with their midfield already depleted through injury and World Cup absences.

The likes of Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli have still not returned from their extended break after their extended World Cup journey.

However, the World Cup stars are expected to report back to Hotspur Way on Monday 6 August, just days before their opening game to the Magpies.

Without main man Harry Kane, Fernando Llorente has travelled in a bid to keep his Spurs career afloat following a below-par first season at the club.

Llorente is aware of his role behind Kane in the pecking order, however, his first season tally of just one league goal was well below expectations.

You can watch the video of the players boarding their plane to Girona below.

The World Cup might only be over for five minutes but preparations have started for the 2018/19 season with the squad travelling to the USA with the start of our International Champions Cup tournament just a couple of days away.

It is the clubs second foray into this tournament in as many years having last summer facing off against PSG, Roma and Manchester City and the club have again returned across the Atlantic this year.

The Spurs hierarchy are looking to expand our already huge presence in the USA particularly with the ten-year deal which is bringing NFL matches to our new stadium.

We will be without Harry Kane, Dele Alli, the Belgian contingent and World Cup winning captain Hugo Lloris as they are currently recovering following their exploits at this summer’s World Cup.

Many first-teamers such as Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura, Serge Aurier and Fernando Llorente have travelled as have youngsters like Brandon Austin, Anthony Georgiou, Oliver Skipp and Kaziah Sterling.

In terms of fixtures it all begins when we face Italian side Roma, for the second summer on the trot,on July 26th at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium

We then have a mouth watering fixture on July 29th when we face last season’s La Liga champions at the huge Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

The USA tour ends in Minnesota with Spurs taking on Serie A giants AC Milan at the US Bank Stadium on August the 1st.

Our final pre-season warm up is away at Girona, just seven days before the opening 2018/2019 Premier League fixture against Newcastle United.

Sky’s Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has warned Real Madrid will be “a completely different team” when they take on Spurs at Wembley tonight following their dreadful La Liga showing over the weekend

Zinedine Zidane’s men suffered a shock defeat at the weekend as La Liga newcomers Girona came from behind to claimed an historic 2-1 victory.

Real have handed the initiative to Barca in the La Liga title race, and the article says that Real will hope to have more success as they continue the defence of their Champions League crown.

Madrid head to Wembley for the very first time on Wednesday, and Balague believes Real’s performance will be in on complete contrast to that seen in Girona.
“You will see a different Real Madrid,” the Sky Sports Spanish football expert said. “The same guys that played so poorly at Girona will raise their game.

Balagué added “Real Madrid have never played at Wembley and the game is being billed as one of the games of the week after Spurs’ impressive display at the Bernabeu.

“Spurs were a little unlucky at Manchester United, the game could’ve gone either way, especially if Dele Alli had scored.
“It will be a serious encounter, it cannot be any other way.”

The article adds that Balagué expects to see a better focused Real Madrid in north London, however he admitted there have been “obvious problems” at the Bernabeu.
“The defeat at Girona was on the back of four wins in the league, so they were doing OK, but there have been obvious problems,”

He added:”Cristiano Ronaldo has only scored one goal in six games and the players coming off the bench don’t have the same impact as James Rodriguez, Alvaro Morata, Danilo or Pepe, so mistakes have been made in replacing those players.

Balagué continued:”Real scored first through Isco but then their attitude was dreadful; they didn’t want to play, the players didn’t work hard enough to get the ball back and they were thinking, ‘This is Girona’.

“The small stadium and passionate atmosphere probably made them think it was a cup game but they were surprised by a Girona side in a 5-2-2-1 formation with very mobile players.

Zidane is not an expert on tactics, he is good at managing egos and changing – he did not know to change things against Girona and it was too late by the time he tried.”

So beware the wounded animal. Despite their obvious dodgy form and well publicised injury list Mauricio Pochettino’s men will have to be alert for 90 minutes. It would be a sensational victory if the lads can pull it off but their is always that danger that Madrid might come out fighting and destroy us. How do you reckon it’ll go. Is it a cautious approach or do we go for the jugular from the off. Let us know your thoughts.
