Bukayo Saka has insisted that there is a lot more to come from Arsenal this season and his side are still capable of going up another couple of gears.

Tottenham maintained their two-point lead at the top of the Premier League table with an impressive 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last Friday, but Arsenal and Manchester City showed during the weekend why many expect them to battle it out for the title once again this season.

The Gunners brushed aside Sheffield United 5-0 in what was undoubtedly their most convincing performance of the season so far while City cruised to a 3-0 win at Old Trafford in the Manchester derby on Sunday.

Bukayo Saka says Arsenal have extra gears to use

Mikel Arteta’s men fell at the final hurdle last season after being at the top of the pack for much of the campaign, and Saka has now warned their title rivals that Arsenal are hungry to put things right this time.

The England international told The Sun following his side’s 5-0 win: “There is another level for us to go to and we are pushing. Scoring five goals on Saturday shows we are getting closer. It’s the first time this season we have scored five so we are really proud and happy.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Arsenal have not been at their best this season but have continued to pick up wins, which is a hallmark of a great side.

It is not realistic to expect Spurs to compete with the Gunners this season, given that Arteta has had a four-year head start on his project compared to Ange.

I think we can potentially start planning for a title tilt next season once Ange has had a couple of more transfer windows to strengthen the squad.

Destiny Udogie has spoken about his battle against Bukayo Saka in the North London Derby, referring to the Arsenal man as a ‘great player’.

Udogie has had a fabulous start to life in the Premier League, having not had a single bad game so far this season.

The 20-year-old excludes the calmness and composure of someone who is vastly experienced rather than of a youngster who is just at the start of his career.

Many were curious to see how the former Udinese man would do against two of the league’s best sides in Arsenal and Liverpool and he certainly passed those tests with flying colours, managing to keep Saka and Mohamed Salah relatively quiet.

His performance in the North London Derby was particularly impressive, considering that Udogie was booked quite early in the game and was playing in a hostile atmosphere.

Destiny Udogie is thriving under pressure at Spurs

The Italian revealed that he enjoyed the challenge of coming up against Saka and admitted that he was pleased with his performance.

When asked about the North London Derby, the left-back told Spurs’ matchday programme (as relayed by Football.London): “It was a great battle against Saka, it was not easy! It was my first time playing against him. I knew he was a great player and Arsenal use him a lot, they give him the ball, so it was a nice challenge.

“I got booked early but I believed in myself and my quality so I left him to receive the first touch but after that I was there with him. It was very intense but I’m happy with the good performance.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Udogie is only going to get better as he gets more experience under his belt and gets used to Tottenham’s system and the intensity of the Premier League.

There is no doubt that the 20-year-old has the talent and the right mindset required to evolve into the best left-back in the world over the coming years.

Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson has quipped that he might take note from Bukayo Saka and copy James Maddison’s celebration if he were to score against Spurs.

Speaking on The Footballer’s Football Podcast, Wilson joked that he would make copying the former Leicester City star’s dart-throwing celebration a thing to wind him up after the attacking midfielder snubbed Newcastle in the summer for Tottenham.

“For banter, I might actually do his celebration as I know him and I might make it a running thing that if you score against Tottenham you have to do Madders’ celebration. It’ll wind him up for sure.

“Especially as he had Newcastle and Tottenham to the side and he chose them. Those assists he could have been doing up here! It might not have been me as I’ve been on the bench for a while but for Alex! I might do his darts celebration but we will have to keep it on the down low!”

People are trying to wind Maddison up at Spurs

At the Emirates Stadium last weekend, Arsenal opened the scoring after Saka’s shot took a massive deflection off of Cristian Romero and beat Guglielmo Vicario between the sticks. The England international proceeded to mimic Maddison’s darts celebration.

However, just before the break, Son Heing-min managed to equalise after being set up by the former Leicester star and the two teams went into the break level.

Saka was given another opportunity to find the back of the net after Romero was deemed to have handled the ball in the box and the Arsenal star did not falter from the spot, copying Maddison’s celebration once again.

But Saka’s delight was short-lived as an error from Jorginho led to Tottenham making it 2-2 and it was Spurs’ number 10 who was once again on hand to provide the assist to Son.

Tottenham will face Newcastle United on 9 December in the Premier League at home, with the away fixture scheduled for 13 April next year.

Spurs Web Opinion

Maddion’s start to life at Tottenham has been electric and the 26-year-old has become one of the key players for Spurs under Ange Postecoglou.

With top players looking to copy the England international’s celebration, it shows that the midfielder has caught a lot of people’s attention and long may that continue.

James Maddison has joked that Bukayo Saka still has a lot of work to do to perfect the dart-throwing celebration.

Maddison admitted before the game that there had been plenty of banter in the England camp ahead of the North London Derby and even added that the Arsenal players would not be looking forward to playing Tottenham at this time (Sky Sports).

Those words did not go down well with some Arsenal fans and perhaps it also irked a few players in the Gunners dressing room as well, with Saka pulling out the Tottenham man’s trademark darts celebration after the home side took the lead in the first half.

James Maddison mocks Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka

However, Maddison had the last laugh as he turned his England teammate before setting up Son Heung-min for the equaliser in the latter stages of the first half.

The pair would later go on to combine again for Arsenal’s second goal after Saka had restored Arsenal’s lead from the penalty spot.

When asked about the Arsenal star’s celebration, Maddison told Sky Sports after the game: “Yeah, but his action was terrible though.”

Maddison also joked about Saka’s celebration in his post-match interview with Spurs Play, telling the channel: “He must have still been doing it when I turned him for the first goal.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Maddison and Saka are evidently great friends off the pitch and it is good to see this kind of banter between the pair. The Tottenham man certainly had the last laugh, given his impact on the game and the result.

Son and Saka are set to battle it out on the pitch in what is set to be one of the most exciting North London derbies of recent years, with both teams going into Sunday’s game tied on 12 points and unbeaten in their first five Premier League games of the season.

Arsenal undoubtedly go into the game as favourites, given their impressive home record in this fixture and the fact that they have been billed by many as the side most likely to challenge Manchester City for the title once again this season.

However, Spurs are riding high on confidence, especially following their memorable comeback against Sheffield United on Saturday.

Ahead of their showdown at the Emirates Stadium, Son and Sake were both seen socialising at the Burberry London Fashion Week, with both players rocking interesting outfits.

Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze, who has been linked with Spurs (FootballLondon) and Olympic legend Mo Farah were also among the other celebrities at the event.

There is no doubt that the topic of the NLD would have come up between Saka and Son, and both players would be quietly confident of getting all three points on Sunday.

After James Maddison joked that he would present Bukayo Saka with a Tottenham scarf on his birthday, the Arsenal man suggested that he would swiftly return it to the midfielder.

Maddison has started the season on fire for Tottenham, having scored twice and picked up two assists in the first four Premier League matches of the season (Transfermarkt).

The 26-year-old is deservedly back in the England squad and might have even done enough to start for the Three Lions in their upcoming European Championship qualifier against Ukraine.

One man who is highly likely to be in Gareth Southgate’s starting eleven is Saka, who celebrated his 22nd birthday on Tuesday.

Saka not interested in Maddison’s Tottenham present

The Gunners star had been named England’s Player of the Year for the second year in a row and Maddison was tasked with surprising the wide-man by offering him the award as his birthday present at St James’ Park.

After giving Saka the award, the new Spurs signing and the Arsenal academy graduate were involved in some humourous banter.

Maddison joked (via Football.London): “Brilliant. I haven’t given you my present yet. It’s a Tottenham scarf, I’ll give it to you later on”, to which the Arsenal man swiftly responded: “I’ll give it you back bro. I’ll give it back to you.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Maddison comes across as someone who relishes performing on the big stage, which is why I cannot wait to see him take to the field at the Emirates on September 24.

While it is still very early in the season, there is no doubt that there is a lot riding on the North London derby, given the starts that both the clubs have made to the new season.

Arsenal have received a boost ahead of their trip to Tottenham on Sunday, with Mikel Arteta confirming that Bukayo Saka will be fit for the clash.

Spurs will take confidence from the fact that their local rivals have not won at their ground since 2014 but the Lilywhites could be without some key players for the clash.

Football Daily revealed today that while Dejan Kulusevski and Yves Bissouma had returned to training, Rodrigo Bentancur and Richarlison were missing, while there is still no clarity on the injury to Lucas Moura.

It looked like Arsenal could have a key injury absentee of their own when Saka was forced off with a painful knock on his leg in the 75th minute of their 3-0 FA Cup win over Oxford United yesterday.

However, Arteta said after the game that he expects the England international to be fit for the trio at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. When asked about Saka, the Arsenal boss told ITV Sport 09/01/23 (as relayed by The Daily Express): “Yeah, he’s fine. He’ll be okay.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If we lose this game, Arsenal would have more or less ensured that they finish above us for the first time in seven years as a 14-point gap will be impossible to bridge. However, despite the form that the Gunners are in, I am quite confident that we could get a result if both Kulusevski and Bentancur start the game.

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka described Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane as ‘inevitable’ and ‘exceptional’ when speaking to BBC Sport after England’s win over Senegal in the World Cup on Sunday night (22:18).

Club rivalries aside, it’s been a fantastic World Cup for both Saka and Kane so far. The pair have been impressive throughout as the Three Lions march on to the quarter-finals at this year’s tournament in Qatar.

Saka may be relatively new to the England set-up, but the youngster has already doubled his goal tally for his country while in Qatar. The 21-year-old has scored three goals at the World Cup, and now has six goals in 22 caps for England (Transfermarkt).

For Kane meanwhile, the group stages saw the England captain provide three assists, but he had to wait for the last-16 tie with Senegal to get on the scoresheet.

That goal took Kane to 52 goals in 79 caps at international level (Transfermarkt) and it’s now surely a matter of time before he breaks Wayne Rooney’s record as England’s all-time leading goalscorer (Goal).

We as a nation expect Kane to score every time he sets foot on the pitch, and it seems his teammates feel the same way. Saka explained how he never had any doubts that Kane would get off the mark in Qatar.

He said: “Harry Kane is inevitable, you know, he was always going to score goals, I was never worried about that. He’s been exceptional for us. He is like the glue of the team the way he links up attacks.”

“I think he has a few assists already so it’s not like he isn’t doing anything for us. So I knew he would get his goal and he showed unbelievable composure, because it took him so long to strike the ball, but he managed to do what Harry Kane does and put the ball in the back of the net.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Harry Kane was really impressive in the group stages without even scoring, but he came alive against Senegal and you just feel he may grow into the tournament as it progresses. Hopefully, he can add to his tally against France and see us through to the next round.

Chris Sutton has revealed he prefers Tottenham winger Dejan Kulusevski over Arsenal wide man Bukayo Saka.

Kulusevski joined Spurs during the January transfer window on loan from Juventus, with Antonio Conte’s side holding an option to make the move permanent for £25.7 million (The Guardian).

The 22-year-old has hit the ground running in England scoring three goals and setting up eight in just 15 Premier League games (Transfermarkt) while slotting in seamlessly alongside Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.

Tottenham will be hoping the trio are on song when they face Arsenal in what is a vital game for both sides’ hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.

Ahead of Thursday’s encounter, former Chelsea striker Sutton weighed in his thoughts on which north London team possesses the best attack.

While claiming Spurs’ forward line overpowers Arsenal’s, he also admitted he would rather have Kulusevski on the wing over England international Saka, to the surprise of co-pundit Micah Richards.

Sutton told The Monday Night Club: “I think Spurs front line leaves Arsenal’s for dead. There’s not one Arsenal player I could see who would get in front of Kane, Son and Kulusevski.”

Richards queried: “Saka?”, before Sutton stuck to his guns by adding: “I prefer Kulusevski.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Kulusevski has been very impressive for Tottenham so far and has quickly made his case for being one of the side’s most important players.

Saka has arguably been Arsenal’s best player this season and both players are young, but they have different qualities despite playing in the same position.

Bukayo Saka has told Sky Sports that he had a trial with Tottenham Hotspur as a youngster but insisted that joining Arsenal was always his first choice.

Saka has established himself as a mainstay in Arsenal’s starting eleven over the last two seasons and the youngster has also been a regular in the recent England squads.

The versatile 20-year-old looks set to have a big future in the game and Spurs fans will be only too aware of his talent, with the winger having netted in the North London derby earlier this season.

According to Sky Sports, the youngster could have found himself in the Tottenham academy instead of their bitter North London rivals.

However, Saka has clarified that he preferred moving to the Gunners academy since he felt there was a clearer pathway to the first team at the club.

He told Sky Sports: “I think Arsenal was always the one I wanted to go to.

“It seemed like they had a lot of faith in their youth and there was a clear pathway when you could see the players coming up from Hale End to London Colney and my dad also really believed in the project and he loved Arsene Wenger.

“I think Arsenal was the club in the hearts of my family, so we chose them.” I think from the moment you sign, the education at Hale End, you start to know the history of Arsenal. You know which games are the most important.”

Saka also spoke about how he was made aware of the fierceness of the rivalry with Spurs as soon as he ended up in Arsenal’s academy.

The England international admitted that Mikel Arteta’s men gained a lot of confidence from their 3-1 in the North London derby earlier this season.

He added: “We obviously knew the derby and the rivalry with Tottenham. So I’d say from the point I signed, the coaches made it known before every game against Tottenham how much it means and there was always extra excitement around that game.

“I’d say that game (the win over Spurs) really lifted us – not just us, it lifted everyone around the club, from us all the way to the fans.

“It made us and them believe that we can do some special things this season and it gave everyone the confidence again in us that I think some people lost.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on the recent interviews from various Arsenal players, it seems like they are almost contractually obliged to say that they rejected Spurs. Joking aside, it stands to reason that the likes of Arsenal and Spurs would be competing for the same young talent from the local area.

Tottenham fans should be excited about the talent we have in our current Under-23s set-up, although it remains to be seen if any of them will make the step up to the first-team at Spurs or decide to leave like Dilan Markanday in search of senior football.

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has heaped praise on Tottenham fans for their support of Bukayo Saka, who suffered racial abuse during England’s Euro 2020 campaign.

The 19-year-old was part of a trio of England players who missed a penalty, alongside Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, as England narrowly lost out in the final to Italy.

Crucially, Saka was placed on the decisive spot-kick and was the recipient of horrendous racial abuse on social media directly after his penalty was saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma.

But football has recently shown its unifying side, with fans of clubs all around England coming together to show their solidarity for Saka, applauding and giving standing ovations to the youngster.

Spurs fans showed their support during their pre-season friendly against Arsenal with a banner and made sure to put aside their bitter differences to applaud Saka as he entered the field of play as a substitute.

These acts have drawn the respect of Chelsea star Mount, who says it ‘gives you hope’ to see such support, even through bitter rivalries.

He said: “It’s not acceptable for someone to go through something like that.

“Straight after the game all of us got round the boys and tried to console them. You could see on their faces how much it meant to them.

“Then I look at what has happened since. The games he has played in since.

“To play away at Tottenham in pre-season and see him get a standing ovation when he came on . . . and at Brentford, too.

“That is what football’s about. Everyone coming together to get behind someone like Saks, one of the best guys I have met in football. That is special. It gives you hope.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Racism has no place anywhere, and removing it from society means so much more than a simple football rivalry. Fans of clubs around England have demonstrated tremendous support to Saka, Rashford and Sancho to condemn the horrible responses they received when they were simply doing their best to make the country they represent proud.

England have posted a wholesome video to their YouTube channel that features a warm exchange between Arsenal’s Bakayo Saka and Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

Saka is trying to prank his fellow England teammates as they arrive at St George’s Park but as Harry Kane arrives, the two exchange warm words and a hug.

Kane even dismissed the Tottenham Arsenal rivalry as he put his arm around the young Gunners starlet, with Saka also confirming that there were no rivalries between them.

Kane said: “Look at this. What rivalry, ey, Arsenal Tottenham, you know what I mean?”

Saka replied: “No rivalries, man.”

Spurs and Arsenal’s rivalry has existed for more than 100 years and it remains one of the fiercest rivalries in the world of football.

The North London Derby is a day on which the players from both sides should show true passion (even if Spurs failed to do so recently).

Throughout the history of the two clubs, several players have played for both sides. The infamous Sol Campbell unfortunately springs to mind, as well as others like William Gallas and Emmanuel Adebayor.

Therefore, I thought I would decide who Spurs would snatch off Arsenal if we had to/if we could:

Arsenal may be in a rotten spell at the moment; however, they do have some exceptional players that could help us.

Centre-back Gabriel and summer signing Thomas Partey are players that would certainly be on the shortlist. However, I believe that Bukayo Saka would be the one player Spurs would grab with both hands if they had the chance.

The 19-year-old has been sensational this season and is one of the contenders for Young Player of the Year, in my opinion.

This season, Saka has predominantly played at right wing for the gunners, with 13 goal contributions in 35 games (transfermarkt).

This may be nowhere near the levels of Son and Kane, but if you watch him, you can see he has the flair, pace and skill to go right to the top.

When Arsenal beat us 2-1 recently, Saka came off at half time. When I saw this happening, I thought we might actually have a chance because he and Smith-Rowe were causing all kinds of problems.

However, I was wrong and the players and the staff once again let down the loyal fans. Fearing someone so young, in such a big game, shows just how good he is and can be.

If you look at Spurs’ current attack, there is one main issue. The right-wing position has been a constant struggle for the N17 squad all season.

Lucas works much better as a number 10, Gareth Bale is way too inconsistent and Steven Bergwijn has gone quiet ever since his debut goal against City. Having the opportunity to snatch Saka would fix that issue drastically, even if it would never realistically happen.

Furthermore, Saka would help to fill in the homegrown quota for the Lilywhites, something we have struggled with for many seasons. Only, being able to have 17 foreign players can be an issue at times, another reason why Saka would be the best of the Arsenal bunch.

It pains me to say it, however, the potential Saka has could be endless. At just 19 years of age, he has taken the Premier League by storm. There is no doubt that Saka can, and probably will, become world-class.

He looks so mature and experienced for someone his age, so with the right work ethic, I do believe he will reach the top. Let’s hope Saka can perform well for England so I can cheer for him on the international stage at least!

The idea of being able to sign one rival player, with no restrictions, is always fun to think about. In the past, there were always so many options. 20 years ago, you could have chosen the likes of Henry, Vieira and Bergkamp.

These days, the options are slim as Arsenal’s downfall continues to run out of control. The tide has turned in North London, Spurs have a greater player pool to choose from and it won’t be turning back anytime soon.

With the recent North London Derby, albeit a disappointing one, I wanted to take a look into a ‘London XI’. I wanted to see the best possible team I could make out of the current six London based clubs playing in the Premier League.

The current six teams we have are Tottenham, Fulham, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Chelsea and Arsenal.

To make the list as interesting and as fair as possible I have tried to include two players from each club with Palace having only one (sorry Palace).

The team is based solely on this season’s form, so in some cases positions may not include the overall best player available.

Goalkeeper – Edouard Mendy

After a string of horrendous performances and mistakes from Kepa, Senegalese international Mendy was brought in to solidify Chelsea’s back line.

His first season in England has consisted of an impressive 14 clean sheets in only 24 matches (Premier League).

He is a commanding presence in the Blue’s box and has proven his quality in a number of games, most recently against Leeds.

It could be argued that he is currently the best goalkeeper operating in London, however due to his arrival only coming recently it will take time to officially label him London’s best shot stopper.

Right Back – Vladimír Coufal

Coufal was signed by the Hammers as cover for the injured Ryan Fredricks in late 2020 for a fee of £5.4 million (BBC Sport). He has been arguably one of West Ham’s best performers this season along with Czech compatriot Souček.

One thing that stands out about the right-sided full-back is his tenacity and unwavering consistency. These traits have lead him to now become a fan favourite at the London Stadium, solidifying his place in the side for the foreseeable future.

Centre Back – Joachim Andersen

Fulham’s recent resurgence has stemmed from the Cottager’s improving on the defensive side of their game over the last couple of months. At the heart of this resurgence is Danish international Joachim Andersen.

After a shaky start to life in England the central defender has found fine form since the turn of the year. In 10 games spanning from January 27th to March 7th Fulham picked up 14 points out of a possible 30, whilst only conceding 6 goals in that time (Sky Sports).

With the current predicament Fulham are in these clean sheets may be priceless come the end of the season.

Centre Back – Thiago Silva

Silva was bought in by Roman Abramovich in the summer transfer window on a free (BBC Sport). With years of experience under his belt, he was signed to bring in the experience of a serial winner and a winners mentality.

Chelsea have been looking to push on and challenge for the title however things have not gone quite to plan up until now.

However one shining light has been the form of Silva. Up until his injury that he sustained against Tottenham just over a month ago Silva had been at the heart of a rock solid Chelsea defence.

Tuchel will be hoping he can bring the Brazilian back into the squad soon and utilise him to his full potential over the course of next season.

Left Back – Kieran Tierney

As much as it pains me to say it Arsenal have a diamond in the rough here with the Scottish full back. Tierney for me is the in the conversation this season for the best left back only coming in behind Luke Shaw.

His crossing abilities are nothing short of excellent and gives Arsenal the creativity they lack in too many areas.

Unfortunately we saw the full extent of his abilities last weekend, giving Doherty a game to forget in which he was outclassed for the full 90 minutes.

The Scotsman provides tenacity and resilience that most of their squad seem to lack. He has only registered 1 goal and 2 assists (TransferMarkt) however his direct approach and pinpoint crossing is clearly vital to keeping Arsenal in the top half.

Central Midfield – Tomáš Souček

Souček has been an absolute revelation at West Ham this season. The 6ft 4 inch Czech international has been the key ingredient in West Ham’s astonishing Champions League push.

Playing along side Declan Rice the midfield, the pairing have cultivated a wonderful partnership in front of the Hammers defence.

His aerial ability is unmatched, which has not only helped his team when protecting their own goal but is a constant threat in the oppositions area as well.

The midfielder since arriving in London has registered 8 goals in 28 Premier League games this season (TransferMarkt), which for a predominately defensive minded player is outstanding and has been the difference on more than one occasion.

Central Midfield – Zambo Anguissa

Alongside the aforementioned Andersen, Anguissa has been the spark recently in a Fulham side that are fighting to retain their top flight status.

The Cameroonian powerhouse is one of the most versatile midfielders in the Premier League.

He possess the ability to break up play with ease using his size and stature but rather than passing the responsibility onto someone else, he uses the ball magnificently to drive the Cottagers forward and start counter attacks himself.

On the 12th March Anguissa was the only midfielder in the whole of Europe to complete 50+ take ons and also register 50+ tackles (Squawka).

This shows perfectly how vital Anguissa is to a reborn Fulham side and could be the man that leads them into the Premier League 2021/22 season.

Right Midfield – Bukayo Saka

As much as I hate to say it, Arsenal have a gem on their hands. The 19-year-old is one of, if not the most, exciting English prospects currently playing in the Premier League.

At the start of the season is it seemed he was on a one man mission to keep Arsenal from being relegated.

The key thing that stands out about Saka is the maturity that he possesses for a teenager. He seemingly plays without fear, running directly at players looking to beat his man and get the ball into the box.

This is reflected in his stats this season, with Saka leading the way in goals, assists, touches in the opposition box and chances created for teenagers in the English top flight (Football Daily).

Saka week in week out takes the game into his own hands and is more often that not the difference maker at Arsenal.

Number 10 – Eberechi Eze

Eze has been a breath of fresh air for Palace fans this season. With them being so reliant on Zaha the past few seasons, it has been a welcomed changed to see someone else pulling the strings in a largely uninspiring Palace midfield.

After arriving from QPR last season there was a lot of expectation for him to be the one to replace Zaha. It would be unfair to base Eze solely on his stats this season with him only contributing to 6 goals directly this season, in the form of 3 goals and 3 assists (TransferMarkt).

With Palace’s strikers struggling to find the back of the net, Eze would undoubtedly have more favourable goal contributions in a side with more quality leading the line. I can see the young Englishman potentially making his way up to a top side in the future.

Left Midfield – Heung Min Son

Who else but Son? The Korean this season has been breathtaking at times and has been one of the players of the season in the Premier League.

Creating a partnership along side Harry Kane which has resulted in a recording breaking 14 goals between them (Premier League) has kept Tottenham in the conversation for a top four finish.

Son has always been a top player but had previously lacked the consistency to move him into the world class bracket. The recipient of the last Puskás award has put up 22 goal contributions in only 28 matches in the current Premier League campaign (TransferMarkt).

The numbers really highlights how integral he has been and how sorely he will be missed if his recent injury against Arsenal sees him sidelined for an extended period of time.

Centre Forward – Harry Kane

For me the best player in the Premier League this season, Kane has been absolutely unstoppable. He has taken his game to a new level incorporating a passing range that is unmatched for by any centre forward around Europe.

It has always been clear for all to see that Kane is absolutely lethal in and around the box. In goals alone Kane has posted 16 goals in 26 matches (TransferMarkt), however what’s more astonishing is how he has adapted his game to fit Mourinho’s more defensive style.

A trademark of Kane’s this season has been dropping deep into pockets around opposition midfield and putting balls through between full backs and centre backs. This gives Son and Bale the freedom to make aggressive run penetrating the box early.

He is currently on track to break Henry’s record for most assists in the season currently at 13 (TransferMarkt) only needing 7 more to break the Frenchman’s record of 20 (90 Min).

For someone who is renowned for finishing attacks rather than creating them, it just goes to show how unique Harry Kane’s football brain is and how his adaptability in different situations makes him irreplaceable at Tottenham.

Arsenal wing-back, Bukayo Saka has claimed that he is grateful to Harry Kane for helping him feel welcome within the England camp.

Saka has been one of the few bright sparks in what has been a disappointing start to the season for Arsenal.

He has been called up to the England squad for the second time ahead of their upcoming clashes against the Republic of Ireland, Belgium and Iceland, after being handed his debut for the Three Lions against Wales last month.

As Tottenham fans will be well aware, Kane not only leads by example on the pitch but is also a model professional away from it.

It looks as though the England captain has put club rivalries aside and helped Saka to feel settled among the big names in the England squad.

The youngster hoped that he could repay the faith that the squad and the management have shown in him by producing the goods on the pitch.

The 19-year-old told Sky Sports: “All the boys have been so good with me from the first minute I came in.

“Harry Kane put his arm around me, he spoke to me and asked me how I was. For him to do that, it helped me settle in much quicker and made me feel comfortable to be myself around everyone.

“That helps me not just off the pitch but also on the pitch too, because I feel like I can be myself, express myself and play with the confidence that I play with back at my club.”

Spurs academy goalkeeper, Josh Oluwayemi, has revealed that Arsenal youngster Bukayo Sako is the toughest opponent he has faced in his career.

Oluwayemi came up against Saka for Spurs in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup against Arsenal in January 2019. He was in goal for the under-18s as they were defeated 5-2 in extra-time with Saka grabbing two goals on the day.

The Spurs man revealed that Buyako Saka was ‘exceptional’ but wanted to avoid giving the Arsenal youngster any satisfaction.

Oluwayemi told Team Nigeria UK on Instagram (transcribed by All Nigeria Soccer): “I don’t want to give him the satisfaction, but you know Bukayo Saka, he is too good. I can’t forget him.

“We told our defenders to watch out for him, we tried everything but he was exceptional.”

Oluwayemi is currently Spurs’ under-23 goalkeeper and featured five times in the Premier League 2 this season, keeping one clean sheet (Transfermarkt).

He made the step up to the development squad after serving as a first-choice goalkeeper in the Under-18s title-winning season in 2018/19.

Spurs Web Opinion

At the age of 19 years-old, Oluwayemi has the potential to face even tougher opponents later in his career. However, Saka had broken into Arsenal’s first-team and cemented a regular starting spot before the season was suspended. Even though he was positioned at left-back, Saka still showed great quality going forward and one can see why he was named as Oluwayemi’s toughest opponent, especially at youth level.
