GiveMeSport have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to give serious consideration to a move for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi this summer.
Ange Postecoglou appears to be prioritising additions to the backline, with 90 min reporting last week that the new Spurs boss had given the green light for the club to pursue a central defender.
The publication claimed that Manchester United’s Harry Maguire was at the top of the Lilywhites’ wishlist while Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte and Wolves’ Max Kilman are the others on the club’s radar.
Spurs expected to take a good look at Marc Guehi
GiveMeSport have now stated that Tottenham’s interest in Maguire is ‘genuine’ but they claim that he is not the only English centre-back that Spurs are looking at.
The publication reveals that Spurs are also eyeing Maguire’s international teammate, Guehi, asserting that Postecoglou’s men are expected to ‘thoroughly look into’ the Palace star.
It is explained that while the 22-year-old is also admired by Arsenal, Spurs have the upper hand over their local rivals as they would be able to offer the youngster regular first-team football.
Spurs Web Opinion
Guehi fits the mould for Postecoglou much better than Maguire does as the Spurs head coach prefers working with young, up-and-coming players.
While the Palace star would likely end up costing a little more than the Man Utd star this summer, he would command a lot less in wages than the 30-year-old.
